The nearby meadow and fields turn to green, the birds and animals are minding their young, rodeo season is under way, and horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking are always fun. With Fall approaching and the days getting shorter, the fall colors on the many cottonwoods and aspens are stunning, the nights are cooler and the warmth of the gas fired wood stove are welcomed. When winter sets in and snow falls on the nearby mountains, the Yellowstone River is fabulous to watch as ice chunks float by. Skiers can head for the slopes or the backcountry, snowmobilers make their way to the hills and the warmth of Yellowstone Lookout is there at the end of a fun filled winter day.

Though we have made many trips to Montana from Birmingham, Alabama; I would highly recommend a trip in the Winter. Every winter is unique and the scenery is different each visit. However for my family and I; the experience at the Yellowstone Outlook Cabin made this trip memorable. The cabin is very cozy and gives a family space after a long day of sledding, exploring, dog sledding and cross country skiing with so many places that are within an hour away! Secondly the Russells and the Mountain Home Staff were very accommodating. They ensured that are stay was special - thank you! This is truly a wonderful place where memories are made. If you are under the impression that the Summer in Paradise Valley/Yellowstone is the best time to visit - you are missing an opportunity of a lifetime in the Winter. Finally, the Lookout Cabin is the only way to go to make your trip a lifetime experience!

Our stay at the Yellowstone Lookout Cabin was fantastic. From the very moment I emailed an inquiry about the availability until we left, we were treated like family. Both by the homeowner and the wonderful property management company, Mountain Home, and in particular, Allison. I was kept updated on the rules, the wonderful things to do in the area, how long it was until our vacation, etc. It seemed as if they were as excited as we were about our vacation. The home is so comfortable and even though we were at max occupancy of 8 people there was plenty of room. No one at any time felt as if we were tripping over each other. The weather at the time we stayed was extremely cold and snowy. The cabin stayed very comfortably heated by using the adorable gas stove. Going hot-tubbing in the snow while watching the two bald eagles soar over the Yellowstone River and surprising the two deer that came around the corner was a wonderful experience. We cooked all our meals at home and the kitchen was well stocked and even had brown sugar on hand, which was great since I had forgotten mine for the carmel rolls. We have only two regrets about our stay. One, due to the cold temperatures we did not venture into the Boiling Rivers in Yellowstone National Park (for sure on our next trip) and we had to leave after 3 days. We will be back and I will recommend this home to others. Thank you so much for a great girls weekend.

Beautiful views of the mountains and Yellowstone River! Lovely home and accommodations. We really enjoyed the spaciousness, open feeling and large view windows as well as tasteful decorations and furnishings. Very comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen (we had more than enough of everything for 8 adults), generous and high quality supply of linens and we loved the welcome gifts. Thanks for a re-newing stay in a great environment inside and out. This home is a wonderful place for both WINTER and summer visits. The home has a very comfortable and nice 'feeling' inside. It was fun to stay in a brand new, immaculate home for New Years!

What a great house! We left Texas to experience some cold weather and see some snow. What fun!! If you have never seen Yellowstone in the winter, go for it! We took a snow coach ride and a guided snowmobile trip in the Park. We even downhill skied one day at Bridger Bowl. After a day's of adventure we loved coming home to this immaculate, well stocked home. We sat in the riverside hot tub each morning and evening savoring the amazing views (we always say bald eagles on the River) and counted our blessings for finding THIS place.

While here, we tried to see everything in Yellowstone Park and the surrounding areas. We had 11 days and were never bored once. We visited caverns, played at a water slide, saw an Imax theater presentation, visited Bear World and about every other major stop in the Yellowstone area. We really enjoyed the house and the views. Thank you for your hospitality and welcome!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Montana vacation. This home was wonderful for 4 adults and 3 children. The many changes in weather were refreshing. The boys fished right from the house, we ate at Chico, we had a blast at the Flying Pig going rafting and had a great horse back ride. This a perfect place to relax! Thank you!

The perfect location for two families (one from MN and one from OR) to meet for a 10 year vacation reunion. Yellowstone was a memorable trip. Lots of elk, buffalo, deer, pronghorns and a couple of bears (from a distance). Old Faithful went off like clockwork. Chico is a great place to enjoy the hot springs and go horse back riding. Your home was very comfortable for 8 of us. Nicely decorated in the fishing theme. Knoll’s Hackle Shop (just one mile away) has plenty of fishing information! We truly enjoyed our stay at Lookout South.

We searched lots of web sites and eventually contacted with Ronda, the owner of this property. She was greatly informative and kind to discuss every points I want to be answered at first. When we arrived at property, it was great location and had everything we needed. We had a great family time and enjoyed lots of activities. Neigboring Chico Hotsprings and strong Yellowstone River were another bonus programs for our family. When we went to Yellowstone, driving way was gorgeous and good enough to set up the day plan. On the way come back to home, Gardiner located grocery store provided everything to be restored for us. Kids loved the upper double floor beds and parents enjoyed perfect family room in downstairs. My wife was fully satisfied with kitchen and laundary facilities and I couldn't forget the sky and stars in cooking BBQ in outdoor grill. Ronda, you have a great facilities and hope more people enjoy you lovely place. Thanks and look forward to coming again.

We had a great family gathering to celebrate my husband’s retirement. Our grand children loved to fish and frolic in the river and on the island right off the property. We enjoyed our trips to Yellowstone and Bozeman. We ate, swam in the hot springs and rode horses at Chico. Everything we could have possibly wanted was provided at this home. We’ve spent the last week alternating between adventures in Yellowstone National Park and relaxing here in the home. Yellowstone’s wildlife was in rare form. We saw a wolf, black bears, bald eagles and thousands of buffalo and elk. This home really provided us with a good base for our excursions and provided us with the restful atmosphere for recuperating from the 5 miles of hiking we did each day. The river is beautiful, very good for fishing and played an integral part in creating the incredible scenic vistas we got to enjoy every night. What a beautiful way to spend a week’s vacation! Thanks for making these memories possible!

Our family had a great time at this fabulous home! The house was perfect with enough room for everyone to spread out, but not so big that we felt separated from the kids too much. The kitchen was well stocked and we made a great Easter dinner. Beds were awesome! And the house was spotless.

Thirteen great days of Paradise Valley. We spent a whole week touring and hiking Yellowstone, spend a day touring the Grand Tetons and spend several days hiking and fishing the surrounding area.
