What a spectacular view from this private home! The Montana Rocky Top cabin is a beautiful log cabin is surrounded by pink granite outcroppings and purple mountains majesty -- every window frames a picture postcard view of the surrounding wilderness.
The cabin is located just two miles east of Cooke City and a short 10-minute drive to the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park and the popular Lamar Valley, known for its abundance of wildlife.
As you wind through the forest along the Clark's Fork, the cabin sits at 8,600 feet and seems to point to the heavens -- with 1,000 square feet of living space on three levels perched atop the mountain, it's easy to spot and aptly named "Montana Rocky Top Cabin."
Decorated for and by wildlife enthusiasts, the interior was designed with everyone from fly fishing groups to small families to romantic couples in mind. White oak flooring, wildlife art, animal furs, aspen and juniper accents, leather loveseat and rocking chairs add to its western charm.
Since the cabin is situated on an acre that borders the Gallatin National Forest, it also offers the perfect starting point for exploration and adventure right from the front door!
Resident wildlife -- mountain fox, moose, deer, elk, eagle and an occasional bear -- have been spotted from its front porch! The Clark's Fork of the Yellowstone and numerous pristine lakes offer fishing within a short hike of the cabin.
The mountain town of Cooke City is steeped in gold mining history, offers good dining and shopping in the summer, and welcomes everyone with a friendly, western charm. Specifically, the vacation home is located on a private road 3/4 mi. from Highway 212 -- this stretch of 212 is called Colter Pass (named for John Colter, the mountainman thought to be the first explorer to enter Yellowstone) and ascends to become the Beartooth Scenic Byway, quoted to be the most scenic and dramatic drives in America!
