We welcome you to a time of refreshment and adventure at our "Dream House". Our family of five lives and works in a remote part of Southwest China. During a vacation in the States in 2005, we discovered this beautiful cedar-sided mountain lodge for sale and immediately fell in love with it.

This half million dollar property has now been totally renovated and is truly a Dream House along the New River. Many of the beautiful hardwoods were left intact to create the mountain home feel. This is a place for our family to come, to be renewed and play. We think you, too, will find this five acre setting to be a place for your dreams to come true as well.

As you arrive, you will round a small curve and the gentle, bubbling, New River comes into view on the right. To the left is a large rolling lawn of apple trees, blueberry bushes, and a grape arbor. This five bedroom, three bath, 3-story house is set-up off the quiet road. There are two levels of deck with your choice of outdoor entertainment options, including hot tub, canoes, grill, ping pong, outdoors fire place, rocking chairs, tables and chairs, picnic table.

The interior living space comprises 3,500 square feet spread over three levels. There is over 1,500 square feet of combined deck space. The top deck is wood with eating tables and chairs, rocking chairs, grill, The bottom deck is beautiful stone pavers with a hot tub, table and chairs bench seat, ping pong table and chiminea. A picnic table is ina secluded grassy area as well. There is also a private deck off the master bedroom with a small table and two chairs. The large lawn is perfect for children to play, group games, and picnics.

As you enter the house, you will appreciate the 25 foot cathedral ceilings and large two story windows. The kitchen is spacious and open, including a long bar area with Tibetan wood stools for chatting with the cook or gazing out the windows to the river and woods below. The kitchen opens into the dining area and living area with a large stone fireplace as the centerpiece of this room. This room is furnished in a dark leather sofa set and a 42 inch plasma HD flat screen TV.

The romantic master bedroom suite is on the main floor. The bedroom is accessed through French Doors and has large French doors exiting to a small private deck looking out to the forest and river. There is also a full bathroom, walk-in closet and a TV with DVD player.

The first floor comprises a second large family room with a 50 inch flat screen TV, two separate sitting areas, a game table, and futon sleeper couch. There are two bedrooms with queen beds, large bathroom with waterfall shower, and laundry area. The large double glass doors lead out to the hot tub deck area and lawn.

The top floor has two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. One bedroom has dark woods giving it a log cabin feel. This romantic bedroom has a pillow-top mattress queen bed, TV/DVD and sitting area. The other bedroom has four twin beds, with enough floor space to throw a few futons and sleep more. There is also a TV and DVD player in this bedroom. It is decorated in a log-cabin style with beautiful quilts and wooden tables.

We invite you to come and enjoy this mountain air oasis as much as we have. Close to our home is an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. You will also be near Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, and 25 minutes from the ski resorts. Nearby are the charming towns of Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis and others.

The back of the house includes a large covered garage and storage area. There is ample space on the property to house a horse, if you bring your own portable stable.

So, come rock on the deck, sit by the fire, or relax in the hot tub and let the fresh mountain air and soothing river renew your mind and spirit.

Ideal for family reunions, corporate retreats, couple’s get-aways, ASU football weekends.

07/07/06 Positive My husband and best friend surprised me with a birthday party and weekend getaway for all my friends. The River House is just amazing. It is So spacious, yet very cozy at the same time. I loved waking up and having my tea on the huge front porch...it is so quiet and very rejuvenating place. We all slept GREAT, all the furnishings, beds, hot tub and fully equipped kitchen were a plus. I especially LOVED the " grotto" style secret shower. What an experience with the rain shower!!!! I'd rent it all over again!

07/06/06 Positive Our family of four stayed at the Riverfront Dream House in 2006. We went there to be with some friends and had a great reunion. We have two little boys and they thoroughly loved the setting and the freedom to run around in the large yard and woods. We enjoyed being able to sit on the porch and keep track of them while sipping hot chocolate. It was an ideal home for families and friends to gather. There's enough space on the three floors for people to do different things and not bother one another, and then the large dining room table and kitchen bar area made for great group meals

07/06/06 Positive I had a great time staying here earlier in 2006. I came to be with friends that I know from China. We sat for hours staring at the beautiful scenery and river below. The house was warm and fun and a great place to relax and catch-up with old friends. I especially liked the family room fireplace and the cool kitchen. The Dining Room table is gorgeous and has such a wonderful view of everything out the large windows. There's not a place you can look that isn't beautiful

07/06/06 Positive A group of us girls stayed here for a friends 40'th birthday party. We had a blast. The openness of the house and the three stories and two large decks let us spread out and have group conversations and just one on one chats in the various little nooks and crannies. We all enjoyed the hot tub looking out over the river. It was an ideal memory-making time for us girlfriends from the past to gather

07/06/06 Positive We had incredible family reunion here in January 2006. The house was so warm, thanks to the stone fireplace. Though there was snow outside, it was great inside. Our kids loved the large sloping yard as their sledding hill. We especially enjoyed the large kitchen, dining and family room area that all blended into one, so we could talk as family. The kids loved their little log-cabin like bedroom with the three beds. We would definitely return and already have plans to return for two weeks this Fall.
