This whimsical and magical log cabin was decorated by a local artist and features the most interesting and unique details throughout. Whether old or young, you will be fascinated by all of the items that adorn this home from the hand-carved monkeys scurrying across the wooden beams to the faux bear-skin rug lounging in the loft to the Rhinoceros watching over his kingdom! There is even a hand-carved five foot tall bear waiting to greet you on the porch when you arrive at Bear Necessities. Each and every nook and cranny is filled with collector pieces that all pertain to the captivating animal theme.
The main floor has only one step from the car into the home for those that need easy accessibility. This level features a large living room with cathedral ceiling and log and chink walls. The 30-foot stacked stone wood burning fireplace is the center piece of the room and a wonderful place for the whole family to gather. The adjoining open kitchen and dining room are also charming and all windows look out onto the view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The upper deck off of this floor has comfortable hand-crafted log seating and a gas grill. This level also has a master bedroom with queen bed, beautiful quilts and more wonderful log furniture. The bath has the animal motif of zebras and bears, and boasts a luxurious whirlpool tub.
Upstairs, the loft has cozy yet spacious sleeping quarters with one double bed, one single bed and its own full bath. The other side of this level serves as the gameroom with foosball table, combination air hockey/ping pong/pool table and cable television with VCR and PlayStation. The large moose on the wall, bear skin rugs and many other magical touches make this the perfect children's area.
The lower level has two more bedrooms as comfortable and fanciful as the rest of the house, one with queen bed and another with one king and one twin. These rooms look out onto the lake and there is a third large bath with easy step-in shower. This level has another deck with large hot tub to relax in and enjoy. This house is great fun and will provide you with an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
Best of all, this cabin is less than five minutes from Hawksnest, which features skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Summers here boast cool mountain breezes and low humidity, perfect for taking advantage of all the outdoor opportunities awaiting you in the High Country. Should you choose to stay in, this cabin has five televisions with cable, a video library and board games. We promise you a 4 star vacation with this house.
Handicap accessible with limitations.
Bear Necessities is located in the prestigious lakes community in Seven Devils, and has paved access all the way to the cabin.
For larger groups, consider renting this cabin with Hunter's Moon just two doors down, or nearby Grandview Lodge or Knob Hill Chalet.
Please remember 4WD or chains are always recommended when visiting the mountains in winter.
