cares and just relax and find
peace in these beautiful scenic
surroundings.
All the places are family friendly with dolls, and play
dishes, classic toys, books, puzzles, board games,

The Ranch House is perfect for large groups or
family reunions. Take a float trip, hang out by the
river area, fish and explore the country side.

Outside the cottage door there is
a gently flowing creek. Cows and
horses graze in the nearby
pastures. The birds sing
melodious tunes and the frogs
announce that spring has
arrived as you sit out on the deck

scenery and beauty.

out.

Or (my favorite) take a walk down
the road with just the starry sky
and full moon to light your way!

There are lots of woods to
explore and as you hike these
hills you come upon creeks and
springs. Enjoy fishing in
our lake stocked with bluegill,
bass and crappie.
Enjoy PRIVATE ACCESS to
beautiful Strother Creek which
flows into the Black River.

Play, swim or fish here where
crystal clear, clean waters flow.

Just outside the Cottage: FOR
THE CHILDREN, let their
imaginations soar as they play
"Laura" from Little House or
"Daniel Boone" in our rustic
child's cabin playhouse or they
can explore our special closet

If you need to leave the hustle and bustle and stress of everyday life and want to relax on a little slice of HEAVEN than this is the right place to go! This has been our best vacation ever. Our children swam in the creek, caught crawfish in the stream, lizards on the deck, played in the beautiful cabin with it's bowls and butter churn, dressed up, enjoyed visiting state parks nearby and had a fantastic time.
The cabin is SO comfortable and very relaxing. There are books and toys in abundance and the scenery is breathtaking.
Not one of us wanted to leave and after just one day home we are already wondering when we can return!

We enjoyed our stay at Koinania Cottage. It was quiet and comfortable. Our stay gave us a chance to relax and cool our feet in the Black River. The Wiltbergers are such wonderful hosts. We also enjoyed nearby Elephant Rock State Park. An interesting outcropping of granite.

Our family just returned from our 4th year at Koinania. We all love the quietness, the fresh air, the fellowship.

On top of all of that, we love the outdoors and all that we can do, see, experience there.

We collected / examined / observed many critters, birds and plants, including my youngest daughter last year actually was able to stand still long enough to pet hummingbirds at the feeder. The hummingbirds were wonderful to watch so closely - they weren't afraid.

We hiked, rode, swam, sizzled our hair at the burn pile, explored, rested, watched videos, played dressup, saw Pilated Woodpeckers, watched fighter jets dog fighting, went dancing, sat out on blankets enjoying the sun, read, ...

A wonderful, peaceful, funfilled time, hard to return to our noisy suburban living!

This was a great middle place where our Chicago area family vacationed with our daughter from Phoenix, who flew into St. Louis. St. Louis and Branson are both a day trip away. We did the 4-hour drive to Branson, and stayed one night at a motel on that end. That put Silver Dollar City within range of the cabin. Near the cabin, we delighted in Elephant Rocks and Johnson's Shut Ins State Parks. Council Bluff Lake was an absolute favorite.

Thank you so much for hearing God’s call to provide a true retreat place for families from the “real world”. It has been a truly refreshing experience for us to be secluded in this haven- a sweet reminder of God’s grace & providence in our lives. We hope to be back & in the mean time we will remember your ministry in our prayers. May God richly bless & keep your family. Peace.

Mary, we really want to thank you for all you have done for this bunch of gals. The food was great! With all that is going on in the world today it was so good to come here and leave all that behind for a couple of days, and to feel the presence of God all around while here.

Dear Wiltbergers-
Thank you for a splendid family vacation abode! There were so many thoughtful family-friendly touches-great children’s books & comics, games, family videos, nature books, nets to catch interesting creatures, etc.!!
We loved the crystal clean creek-swimming, fishing, & looking for interesting rocks! We even came ‘home’ with a catfish and fried it (a first for us)!
Thank you for sharing your blackberry bramble with us! Nothing is as delicious as freshly picked berries w/ sugar and milk-especially when you endured August heat, bees, & multitudes of thorn scratches all over your hands & arms to get them!! It brought back memories from my childhood on the farm in Iowa. Then, however, I wore a long-sleeved shirt and spared my arms!!
The children thoroughly enjoyed your collection of dress-up items-the cowboy boots & gun were the biggest hits!!
Your serene setting was inspirational for time with the Lord (praising Him for His creation) and photography. Keep serving the Lord in this way- it is a blessing, your family is precious!

A great place for a few restful days. Great to launch from for visits to Elephant Rocks and Johnson Shut-Ins. Comfortable facility and pleasant hosts.
January 25, 2003 Lennon family Chicago, IL
What a peaceful place! And so many things to do together as a family. We loved exploring and playing in several of the state parks in the area, swimming, horseback riding, finding frogs and turtles, rock hunting, browsing in antique shops. In the evenings we enjoyed playing board games, watching videos, or star gazing together. It was one of the most restful vacations our family has ever had.
January 23, 2003 Joe and Mary Heun Payson, Arizona
What a wonderful place to be. Beautiful scenery, peaceful setting, and the most gracious hosts you could find. Be sure to join them for a game night. You will enjoy knowing the whole family. We are looking forward to going back.
January 22, 2003 Rebecca Kloker Rushville, Illinois
I loved being here I got to bring my horse and then go riding on trails and my mom got to stay at the house and read. it was a dream come true for both of us! When we got there it was late at night and we couldn't really tell how anything looked outside. I still remember wakeing up vary early to the sunrise and as I looked out at the sun hitting the hill with all sorts of color and the dew on the grass and the calfs playing with each other my breath was taken away. Now I have been a lot of places, to the grand canion the rocky mountians and the beaches of California. But there was something difrent about this it was so peacefull and you felt like you had lived there forever like you were in the comfort of your own home. All I can say is thank you for the experince of a lifetime! Hope to be back soon!

It was the first time my daughters swam in a creek! They loved it! I’m sure tears will flow tomorrow when we leave… This is such a peaceful place.
Janet L, IL

We enjoyed building onto our friendships in a peaceful environment when we live in such a hectic, rushed environment at home. We all agree we would love to come back here.
3 families from St. Louis, MO

The Hedding family has enjoyed this visit to Missouri like no other visit to this state.

Andrew and Karl were honored to be the first ever to catch fish in your lake. Everyday was a new adventure for them. We simply enjoyed watching them pretend to be the Americans, French or Spanish, Union or Cowboys depending on which battle they were re-enacting at the moment. These were definitely among our finest days of home schooling yet!
