Over spring break my wife and I were trying to find a small inn which would accept both our two year old dog and child, this is not easy in Lake Geneva.
The ice loft was a great find, one of a kind 100 year old building with south facing roof windows. It was homey and clean, a snug place to cocoon during the cool rainy vacation.
It had a small kitchen and a loft feel with exposed beams. Overall it was not very big, but just cozy enough for the three of us. Style was rustic boat cabin feel. The other bedrooms were small, better suited for children than adults, with many nooks and hiding places.
We stayed upstairs in the main room with our bed under a large roof window, it was dark enough to see the stars.
The location is great, in a very quit area, sorrounded by large homes and close to town, we felt very safe at night walking Walter.

We reserved the ice house. The place is a dump. I had better funiture in my college apartment and that was awful. Everything is so old, torn and dirty looking. The office person was very nice and let us out of our reservation. I am guessing it happens often. If they put some money into it, it could be really cute and the location is wonderful. For now, it is gross.

My family just stayed at the "icehouse". We had a wonderful time. The host was very kind. The accomadations were fun. Every room is on it's own little floor -hard to describe but very fun. My six year old son and our dog both enjoyed looking from the windows out onto the frozen lake. Our son also liked to climb up into the sleeping loft -too scared to sleep up there but loved the climbing to and from! My husband and I enjoyed the peace and quiet. There's plenty around to keep you entertained. There's a movie theater, a pizza place, ice cream parlor and a coffee shop within walking distance. If you'd rather just load up on supplies and enjoy the solitude there's a grocery store and a super walmart just a short drive away. The icehouse includes a full kitchen so you can prepare your meals at home if you would prefer. Summer is the big time for lake geneva, but if you're like me and enjoy the quiet beauty of winter then there's plenty of reason to go in January as well!
