Spacious and affordable, Tall Oaks Lodge is located in Stoney Creek at Wintergreen, in the beautiful Rockfish Valley. It offers more than 5000 square feet of living space arranged in a fascinating array of gathering areas, spacious bedrooms, cozy nooks, and forest views.
Your vacation rental is not just a place to sleep. It can make your vacation a dream or a nightmare. Although Wintergreenrental homes may look different on the outside, on the inside they have many similarities. The most common arrangement is to have a bunch of small bedrooms and one large "great" room that embraces the kitchen area, dining area, and living room area. This arrangement is "great," if all you do in your vacation home is eat and sleep. But if you want to read a book or listen to music or talk to a friend, you must either retreat to your bedroom or put up with the commotion of all your companions in the great room. You are either all together or all alone. Outside usually doesn't offer much privacy, either. In many locations you can almost touch the house next door.
Now look at Tall Oaks Lodge. Lots of bedrooms, four, to be exact, and four baths — one bedroom features a king-sized bed; two bedrooms are equipped with queen-sized beds; and one has a pair of twin beds — but no "great" room. Instead, a large stone fireplace separates the living room from the dining room, which seats ten at a large oak table. The dining room leads to the kitchen that features top of the line appliances and a breakfast bar that seats four. The kitchen shares open space with the family room, a comfortable space two steps down, with a soft couch and another large stone fireplace. Down the hall from the dining room is the pentagon room with a table suitable for playing cards, assembling jigsaw puzzles, or feeding kids. Next to the pentagon room is the media room; another comfortable couch and overstuffed chair and a 27" TV with VCR and DVD players. The solarium, between the media room and the living room, opens to both rooms and to the outside. Upstairs is the "den," two overstuffed chairs, walls of windows and bookcases, a small stereo, a wood burning stove, and it overlooks the living room. Down the hall from the den is a small alcove with a wooden doll house and a rocking horse for the smaller guests. Next to the alcove is the play room, with a queen-sized pullout couch, a foosball table, and a 48" TV with VCR and DVD players. Oh, yes: the play room is also accessible from its own staircase from the breezeway between the kitchen and the garage.
The solarium opens to a small deck ten steps up from ground level, with a long bench built into the railing and a small table and two chairs. Behind the dining room is a stone patio with a table and chairs, next to the gas grill. Down the way sits the screened gazebo with porch swing overlooking the Rockfish Valley. The large lower deck is separated from the house and features a picnic table, a hammock, and several lounge chairs. Dimmable rope lighting surrounding the deck for nighttime entertaining. The back yard fence will keep small children from wandering away or rolling down the hill. Picturesque stone walls weave gracefully around the terraced grounds, defining the contours and linking the house to the earth. Set on five and a half acres, you can barely see the neighboring houses. You will see deer roaming freely through the woods near the house, but you won't see your cars because they will be hidden in the two-car garage.
If you must stay in touch with the office or check your investments, there is a FAX machine and high-speed wireless (or wired) Internet access at no extra charge. Also make unlimited free direct-dialed long-distance calls.

Deposits:
In order to reserve a specified time period, you must contact us, verify that the desired time period is available, and request that we hold that date pending receipt of your deposit. If your stay is more than two weeks away, a 50% deposit is required to reserve your dates, and the balance (plus security deposit) is due 14 days prior to your arrival date. If you are reserving a period that is less than two weeks away, the total amount of the rental (plus security deposit) is required. If we do not receive your deposit within 5 days, we will remove the hold and make those days available to other renters. (You may pay the security deposit by a separate check. We will hold it and return it unless there are charges for loss or damage.)
Cancellations and Refunds:
Cancellations more than 14 days from the arrival date will receive a refund of the reservation deposit less $25.00 service fee. If you cancel the reservation 14 or fewer days from the arrival date, you will forfeit the entire reservation deposit. Reservations for Thanksgiving, and the period from December 20 to January 4 require 30 days cancellation notice.
