This beautiful farm house is located near the famous VIRGINIA CREEPER TRAIL at WHITETOP, VA, home of Virginia's two highest mountains. It was built in 1931 by Cleve and Martha Baldwin, and has remained in the Baldwin family since that date. It was renovated in 2002 with updated appliances, yet it retains the charm of a family farm house. Whitetop is located in the high country of Southwestern Virginia near the Tennessee and North Carolina borders. At an elevation of 4,000 ft., the climate is cool and nice in the summer and snowy in the winter. The 160 acres that surround the house were once home to a cattle farm and now it is a Fraser Fir Christmas Tree Farm. About half of the farm is in Christmas Tree production; the balance is woodland. You are encouraged to roam the whole farm at your leisure. There is a very large well-groomed yard that is ideal for many outdoor activities and a nice pond that is stocked with various kinds of fish adjacent to the house. It is located 1/2 mile from the Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area, two miles from the Virginia Creeper Trail, two miles from the Appalachian Trail, seven miles from Grayson Highlands State Park, and 55 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway. If you like beautiful scenery, hiking, biking, fishing, or just relaxing, then this is the place. We provide all linens. The kitchen is fully stocked with all needed appliances, cooking utensels and tableware. The living room has a nice wood-burning fireplace (wood provided) and DSS satellite TV and VCR; the kitchen has a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, double ovens, and cooktop; the secluded rear deck has a gas and charocal grill.
