The beautiful stretch of St. George Island can be accessed by a four
mile drive along SR300. The island is surrounded by St. George Sound
and Apalachicola Bay which are filled with luscious shell fish and
big time game fishing: oysters, scallops, grouper, mackerel,
redfish, and flounder are just some of the game fish these waters
afford. The beaches of St. George Island are no exception to the
Panhandle areas standard, with tremendous sand dunes, natural sea
oats, and emerald waters it is a true vision.
Unlike many of its counterparts in the panhandle St. George Island
is renowned not for its nightlife but rather for its serenity. The
entertainment of St. George Island consists mostly of fine dining
and outdoor activity. St. George Island public beaches have free
parking for its visitors and unlike many beaches on the west coast
are open 24 hours a day. The St. George Island State Park provides a
wonderful campground for a tenant that provides restrooms, picnic
tables, and showers for those who choose to rough it in the natural
beauty of the area.
