The city of Destin is another of the late bloomers on the coastline
of the Florida Panhandle; Destin was incorporated as a city in 1984.
A neck of land bordered by the Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of
Mexico, Destin has been erected in a whirlwind of development and
construction in only a few short years. The Henderson Beach State
Recreation Area is a large publicly owned strip of coastal property
that provides a great place for families to go and enjoy the beauty
of the white sandy dunes, and emerald green waters that have made
the beaches of the panhandle so celebrated.

to walk, rollerblade, or bike down the beach to experience the
