Shady Grove Cottage is a cabin with two units, located in the Black Hills near Nemo, SD, and about 25 miles from Rapid City.
The upper unit is called Red Tail Hawk cottage, and is available for rental year around, while the lower unit is available when the owners are not in residence, and during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Red Tail Hawk has two bedrooms and two baths. With a lodge-like feel, it has a vaulted ceiling, a 22-ft. deck, unique decorations, brand new hickory wood cabinets, and stainless steel appliances. It sits on five private acres, with a stream running nearby, tall pines and aspen, and a million night-time stars. Within five miles are: a lake, hiking trails, fishing, mountain bike trails, hunting opportunities, snow mobile trails, horseback riding, and a tall peak for a breathtaking view of Black Hills sunsets.
It is centrally located among all Black Hills attractions, including Mt. Rushmore, historic Deadwood (Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok were real people!), Custer State Park (wildlife, lakes, and mountain climbing), the town of Sturgis, home of one of the nation's largest motorcycle rallies, and Rapid City.
In summer, the owners may be in residence downstairs, so you may be invited to a bar-b-que or sing-along, as one of the owners is an acoustic musician who performs in the Rapid City area. They will also give you the low-down on the back trails, secret beautiful spots, restaurants, and other information that local folks know.
All amenities are provided, including a living room/great room area, fully equipped kitchen, diswasher, clothes washer and dryer, towels and bed linens, satellite TV, and internet access. Red Tail Hawk comformtably sleeps 6 on a king bed, double bed, single bed, and queen sleeper. The lower unit has identical amenities, except beds are king, queen, and queen sleeper. Guests may choose to clean themselves, or elect to leave cleaning to us. If so, a surcharge of $125. will apply.
Special rates may be offered to educators or persons renting both units at once. Check for discounts.
