Vacation Rental Home Description
Fortunately, some of the most beautiful places on earth can be experienced without the cost and responsibility of actually owning them. Red Canyon Ranch in the BlackHills is no exception. Situated high atop the BlackHills’most historic red-clay canyon, the location of the original route into theHills for both Native Americans and the white settlers that followed, Red Canyon Ranch is a monument to the cowboy lifestyle, with elements of luxury and style that most cowboys have probably never seen. The cabin is a lodge-pole pine dwelling, newly constructed to resemble an aged lodge. It offers full views of Red Canyon from3 sides, rustic floors and cabinetry with state-of-the-art appliances, natural dry-stack, slate fireplace in the living room and master bedroom, sleeping accommodations for up to 6 people, not including a separate bunkhouse and tipi. An outdoor hot tub that nearly floats above the canyon’s edge makes night bathing under the stars a life-time memory. From any perspective, Red Canyon is a wonder to behold.Whether looking down into its depths, peering across its vast expanse, or gazing up from its grassy floor, Red Canyon will turn even the most hardened city dweller into a humble servant of nature. Standing at its edge, the Canyon appears as a perfect diorama, with miniature animals wandering through its terrain and birds soaring through its skies, buoyed by the wonder beneath them.On a clear day, Red Canyon offers extraordinary views to its east, where sheer red walls and jutting peaks accentuate the awesome powers that went into its creation, as well as the intricacies of its meandering path. To the west, the dense clustering of centuries-old Ponderosa pine easily explains how the area came to be known as the “Black”Hills, while a further gaze acknowledges, through beautiful open prairie, that Red Canyon does indeed have an end, and that Wyoming lies beyond. 400 acres of pristine and historic wilderness area for you to explore. The Red Canyon area is home to the most diverse wildlife population in all of the BlackHills. Elk, Antelope, Mule Deer, Eagles, and Turkeys are common sightings whose perpetuation can be guaranteed by your participation in the Red Canyon Residential Ranch. It is because of this reputation for such varied and protected wildlife that the Red Canyon area was chosen to host the introduction of a starter herd of Rocky Mountain sheep. These cliff-dwelling animals are expected to migrate to Red Canyon as soon as the sub-groups go off to establish their own herds, eventually becoming a welcome addition to ever day life on the Ranch. The southern BlackHills holds something for everyone and every taste.Nestled among the rolling hills are a multitude of quaint towns and cities, offering shopping, dining, and tourist attractions that could easily fill your day with smiles. The area also hosts some of the country’s most beautiful parks and well-known monuments, all within a short and scenic drive from each other. Cabin is located approximately 20 minutes south of Custer, SD.

Cabin Rentals Reviews for Founders Cabin On The Rim of Red Canyon in Black Hills
May 16, 2011
Reviewer:
Yvonne Maes
From: Grosse Pointe, MI
The rim is the place to be when you want to escape the rest of the world. Beautiful views and great hiking. The cabin is beautiful but could use some comfortable furniture in the living room. Beds are very comfortable and the hot tub is great after hiking. The closest town, Pringle is useless but Custer has a good grocery store and restaurant. The owner is very helpful.
