An authentic old Adirondack cabin two miles from Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, Deep Woods Cabin has dutch doors and casement windows, four bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, a breezy and bug-free wrap-around screened-in porch, a large stone fireplace, a hot tub, an eat-in kitchen with a cozy old-fashioned wood stove (as well as a modern range), linens, cooking and eating utensils, Cable TV, high speed Internet, unlimited long distance, and a washer-dryer. All you need to bring with you are clothes, food and fishing poles. Deep Woods is open year round.

Children can lay out their sleeping bags on the porch, and thrill to the nightly concert of song birds, accompanied by light shows of fireflys, and the spooky calls of owls, bobcats and other woodlands critters.

Walk or drive the half mile to the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and Rehabilitation Center on Lake Everest, at www....org, where the family can meet and learn all about wolves, coywolves, bobcats, arctic and red foxes, coyote, and non-releasable, educational birds of prey, such as Bald Eagle, Osprey, Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls, Screech Owls, Barn Owl, Short-eared owls, Red-Tailed Hawks. Broad-winged hawks, Swainsons Hawks, Rough-Legged Hawks, Goshawks, Peregrine Falcons, Merlins, Turkey Vultures and Ravens. In addition, in season, guests may use our canoes and kayaks on Lake Everest, and walk-ski-snowshoe the hiking trail, or accompany us on the wolf walk through the refuge.
