Lake George Home Private Retreat close to Itasca State Park, MN
The lake home is located on Lake George at Lake George, MN 10 miles east of Itasca State Park and 25 miles from Park Rapids, Bemidji, and Walker. It's on the same lake as Camp Courage of the North. Lake George is 3.5 hours Northwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Elevation above the lake = 50 feet
Lake George is a beautiful 800 Acre fishing and recreation lake. There is a public landing at the north end of the lake and we have a dock and lift. Fishing is good for bass, walleyes, northerns, and pan fish. Deer, eagles and loons abound.

Please bring kitchen and bath towels. Bed linens are provided. No pets allowed. No landline phone service provided in the home as of 2017. Please bring a cell phone for phone service. Wireless internet available. We have lake access with a dock and lift on property. There is a firepit outside for cooking or bonfires.

Itasca State Park is 10 miles from the house and has great bike and walking trails, bike rentals, boat rentals including row boats, canoes, and paddle boats, as well as the source of the Mississippi.

Thank you Johnson family for the incredible experience at your lake home! Like a sign said in your home, "heaven is a little closer when you're here" I felt that! Not only is your home immaculate, it's so wonderfully maintained. I felt so inspired being down by Lake George and all the woods and nature that surrounds it. If you have a chance to come and rent here, I would highly recommend it. You'll feel like you've experience a little heaven in your life.

I have stayed at this lovely home three times, and have found the experience completely delightful. The house is stocked with everything necessary for a comfortable vacation. It's been such fun to take walks near the property, listen to the loons, and watch for wildlife. On my last visit, I even saw two grouse! It seemed to me to be the perfect spot to relax, enjoy nature and have a great vacation.

For roughly 30 years, our family has enjoyed summer vacations on Lake George, with the last 20 years finding us at the Johnson Summer Home. It has become our home away from home, the place where we can relax and rejuvenate. Our main interest has always been bass, walleye and bluegill fishing, but there are many other ways to spend carefree summer vacation days in the area: bike trails, hiking, shopping, antiquing and, of course, water fun. The home is roomy and comfortable, the scenery beautiful, and the lake is always welcoming.

We were at this lovely lake home in the fall of the year. The trees were absolutely breathtaking. The home is comfortable and very clean, well stocked. A beautiful place to relax and enjoy the scenery..read and play games. One experience was making s'mores on the firepit. Sure brought back childhood memories...very soothing and calming vacation spot. Another great memory was going to the Mississippi headwaters in the north woods of Itasca State Park which is a short trip from the lake home. We actually crossed the river on stepping stones. This vacation home is well worth the visit and for us it will be a definite repeat!

This is a terrific getaway location. I've spent time at this property in every season and with varying group sizes and I've had a great experience each time. In summer, it's waterskiing and fishing on Lake George, golfing and exploring Itaska State Park. In winter, it's snowshoeing on Lake George and in the woods, a book by the fire and plenty of scrabble. Lake George is not crowded and the boat traffic is minimal. The house is well furnished, has great views and a big yard and is fairly secluded.
