Our stay wasn't long enough! It's not 'heaven' but we could see it from there! This place is spectacular! We've travelled the world and Maile Tree House is TOPS. I'm thankful they've provided tourists to Volcano with a such a beautiful place to stay.

"Detail, Comfort and Magic in the Rain Forest"
What a glorious place that has been created here. Every single item in the house is intentional, beautiful, useful and perfectly located. (and spotless!) I felt at home, and in fact, sketched a little ground plan, 'cause if i ever get to build a house some day, I should think the treehouse would be just about perfect for me and partner. Darling gardens, incredibly appointed kitchen, easy access to National Park, Hilo, and Pahoa coast. We rented both the treehouse and the garden suite so that my father and sister and I had plenty of room. It was still affordable. Private, magical, and meticulously cared for. I will return.

"Maile Treehouse, a perfect gem in the Hawaiian garden."
My husband and I stayed in Maile Treehouse in January. It is a gracious home with all of the amenities we could want. It is set in a very nice, private garden. You walk up to the Lanai that overlooks the back garden. The home has a beautifully designed open layout. It is meticulously planned for connivance, comfort and beauty. The location is perfect for exploration of the attractions in this region. It was very romantic.

"A truly special place!"
The Maile Treehouse is cute and charming and classy. What clever design and decorating...and attention to detail! We stayed upstairs while our twenty-year-old daughter had the downstairs so we got to see the entire house. We all enjoyed exploring the outside as much as the inside. It was a pleasure to have such a special home for our vacation!

"A beautiful and peaceful retreat"
Perfectly clean, very comfortable, and nicely appointed-- we enjoyed the beatiful setting, hot tub, fireplace and lots of thoughtful touches from Leslie and Michael. The house is surrounded by beautiful trees and ferns and is private and quiet... The Treehouse is also convenient to the park entrance, and close to the center of Volcano. we'll definitely be back!

A beautiful home.  We both made comments that if/when we buy a home, we would love it to feel the way this home feels.  All the little touches make it an adventure in itself.  We're going to miss the **** on the window and being watched by ***** (don't want to give it away)  This home is exquisite.

What a beautiful home! Of the 2 weeks we spent in the islands, our 3 day stay here was a highlight. The rainforest is beautiful and the natural privacy it provides is magical. The treehouse is designed and built beautifully. Leslie and Michael have invested much time and thought into making it a true haven and have provided all the necessities plus lots of special extras. It was clean, tidy, and well organized. The surprises kept us entertained throughout our stay and the personal touches made it more than mere "accommodations." I would highly recommend staying here. You won't regret it.

Mahalo to Leslie Hess for the warm Aloha we received at the Maile Tree House. We have never stayed anywhere that compares to this lovely, peaceful, beautiful, wonderfully decorated piece of heaven. Words cannot express our thanks for letting us experience this place in the rain forest. Our plans were to get up early and hike, but instead we drank cup after cup of coffee and enjoyed the backyard. If we had to do it over, we would stay here much longer. We will be back!

We love the Maile Tree House, a paradise within paradise! The kitchen was awesome, with every tool we needed to make everything we wanted. The beds were comfortable, the fireplace was cozy, the jacuzzi tub was relaxing and the environment...beautiful and peaceful. Every day was an opportunity to find something new to appreciate around the house. A lot of thought went into this place, down to providing rain jackets and flashlights. There was even a pair of scissors and a push light by the entry so you can see where to put your key in at night! You definitely need to stay here to realize the awesomeness of this special place.

We truly loved this little hidden gem. The pictures don't do it justice. All the little things done there really make it special. We really hated to leave but we are already making plans for another trip back to this lovely house that is full of care and thoughtfulness. They accomplished their goal, everything was perfect.

Your place was perfect and very incredible! Everything came together just right starting with the weather! Excellent clear skies with lots of sun, and lots of stars until the full moon came shining through the windows with the ohia trees completely backlit! Your place was exactly what I had envisioned. It was so perfect it was like being in a movie!...if ever in a million years you think of selling your place I would rob a bank! I know everyone asks you about this I'm sure, but just in case! All I can say is thank you very much for such a beautiful and well though out place!

place to family and friends, but we will keep trying.

We went to the Hope Church beside the Orchid Farm on the highway for the Easter service. It was also beautiful and uplifting and everyone was so friendly. It put us in the Easter mood and was just what we needed since this is the first time in my childrens' lives that we were not with them for Easter.. We had a
lovely pancake breakfast here afterwards and that is what we would normallly do at home. So we felt better and the Easter spirit was with us in that beautiful Tree House and setting.

We were delighted with your treehouse. It is ideally located for us, as we do frequent hikes in Volcanoes Park. We enjoyed waking up to dawns light through the trees. The house was much brighter than we expected-- it is well designed to capture the feeling of being in a forest, but w/o the darkness. Our only regret is that we were here for just 3 nights. The accomodations exceeded our expectations! You have both created the ultimate romantic getaway and we were sorry to leave! The perfect weekend for our 20th anniversary... listening to the birds singing and watching the puffy white clouds swish across a blue blue sky. Such peace and tranquility. We felt like we walked into paradise the moment we entered through the doors. We were torn between seeing the sights and just staying in this beautiful home and listening/ watching mother nature at it's finest. Maile Treehouse and it's surroundings epitimize 'Hawaii'. You can see their TLC in every detail and have brought back with me some of their ideas and great touches they had throughout. We were grateful to have stayed there.

I spent only three night at Maile Treehouse. The
remote location was fantastic and it was so unique.
It was a once in a life time experience. It was my
mom's 60th B-day and Leslie was kind enough to
provide us with a cake. Thank you so much! There
was so much personality to the Treehouse ad it was
a joy staying there. The location was perfect to
Volcano National Park. The stay was perfect and
Leslie was a wonderful host and she wasn't even

Hands down, the best part of our vacation! If I was to design a dream vacation home, I would copy the Maile Tree House down to the smallest detail. The wood walls, the jacuzzi tub, the wood-floored shower, the amazing bed, the quiet and seclusion....words cannot begin to describe it. It was so hard to leave. The small details throughout the house were a wonderful surprise, especially the bird perched on the window, and the frog in the tree. The Maile Treehouse will definitely be a part of any future trips to the Big Island, and I will be singing its praises to all that will listen.

Maile Tree House is a wonderful place to stay. The warm wood tones, cushy furniture, modern ammenities along with the whimsical touches make for a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.
