We stayed in the studio, and found it delightful. The house is a hundred feet or so above the bay, and view is excellent; we watched surf, surfers, and dolphins from the lanai. The immediate surroundings are also delightful; palms waving, plumeria right by the steps to the studio, ti bordering the grass, Hawaiian wild chickens strutting through the yard, beautiful landscaping all around. From the lanai, one has a view of the incredibly green and steep Kauai mountains. 'Anini Beach is only a couple of minutes' drive (or perhaps ten minutes' walk along a paved but narrow road). The property is secluded, so one isn't faced with loud music or wild parties next door (as can happen with the properties right on the beach). The Princeville area (with shops, a good food store, places to eat, and the Princeville Library) is only a couple of miles down the road. Moreover, Ms. Herfurt has thoughtfully provided everything one needs to store supplies and prepare meals in the studio; there is a small refrigerator, a hot plate, a large electric skillet, toaster, coffeemaker (with filters), all necessary cutlery, dishes and glassware. A washing machine and dryer (as well as a vacuum cleaner and broom) are available. The bed is firm. Beach towels, snorkel gear, beach chairs, mats, swim fins, and a beach umbrella are also provided.
