Five charming seaside cottages on Dominicas coast
Sleeping Accommodations: 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6
Bedding Information: 1 queen, 1 double, 1 double futon
magnificent view of the
sea below, these five delightful self-
catering cottages
provide you with all your needs while
visiting
Dominica. Situated on three acres of
attractively
landscaped grounds, each of the five
cottages
provides a sense of privacy and
relaxation as you sit
on your balcony watching the moonlight
shimmer on
the palms and listen to the rhythmic
surf below.
Fruit trees and gardens are planted
around the
cottages and hummingbirds dart from
blossom to
blossom with their brilliant colours
flashing in the
sunlight..
Each cottage is of a different size
and design from a
Studio for two people to a two bedroom
cottage for a
family of five. The one bedroom home
also has a
guest apartment for friends to join
them.
We try to actually live up to the name
of "eco-
friendly" by using solar for our
electric power and hot
water needs
The cottages are different prices for
the different
sizes.
Including tax they range from $600us
in the winter
season to $924 for the larger cottages
including tax.
Summer season is discounted
The beach below is a good swimming
place with the
added attraction of a fresh water
river flowing in to the
sea . Wonderful to rinse off after
bathing in the salt.
We are close to other beaches, a
lovely waterfall, the
carib territory , rainforest and lots
of hiking trails up to
the ridges.
SeaCliff is a wonderful place for
hikers and nature
lovers. Artists and photographers will
be equally
happy here with so many beautiful
vistas every where
you look. We can offer you a chance to
learn about
and be a part of local island culture
. Talk to the local
people when you stroll down into the
village and they
will be happy to answer any questions
you may have
about the area. People are very proud
of their
beautiful country and happy to share
their knowledge
with you.
Staying at SeaCliff will give you
insight into the heart
of Dominica !
The cottages are designed with an open
concept.
Cathedral ceilings and tiled floors
open onto
balconies facing the sea. We try to be
environmentally correct by using solar
hot water,
solar electric, composting, and
staying away from
harmful pesticides, sprays etc. The
water is fresh
and pure, piped into the houses from
the rivers high
in the mountains. The modern kitchens
are complete
with all that is needed for meal
preparation and all
linens and towels are provided for .
Catering, maid
and laundry service are available upon
request or, if
you prefer, you are welcome to the use
of our laundry
facility. A baby bed is also provided
for those
traveling with very small toddlers.
Several barbeques
are on the grounds for people who
enjoy grilling an
evening meal and the balconies have
outdoor furniture
for dining as well
There are no apartments attached to
the cottages so
you do not have to concern yourself
with people living
above ,or below you, as each building
is rented to
only one group at a time. Each cottage
has a cell
phone and wireless internet is
provided
HIKING TRAILS AND SITES OF INTEREST
Although we do not offer set "tours"
we have several
guides who will be happy to take you
to various spots
if you wish. Otherwise ,there is lots
that you can do
on your own. There are numerous small
roads that
lead up into the hills behind
Calibishie. These are
"feeder roads" for the banana farmers
and lead up
onto the ridges looking down on the
valleys below.
Partly bush and part banana
plantation, there are
some incredible views as you look
across the valleys
and out to the sea. During nesting
season, you can
see flocks of parrots in the trees.
Various rivers flow down from the
mountains with
waterfalls and
bathing pools if you know where to
look. Just past
the village of Bense (a couple of
miles from Calibishie
) is a lovely little waterfall, the
Chaudiere Falls, where
you can dive from the top into the
pool below. Off the
beaten track in the forest it is a
wonderful spot to
spend the day.
There are many other spots to discover
and explore.
The Northeast is truly dramatic and
exhilarating !
FOOD AND RESTAURANTS
There are several good restaurants in
the village of
Calibishie which will provide you with
local, French or
North American fare. The grocery
stores are small,
but well stocked with your basic
needs. Originally a
fishing village you can still find
fresh seafored from
local fishermen
An excellent outdoor market is held
twice a week in
the town of Portsmouth, about 12 miles
away. All the
fresh fruit, vegetables and spices
grown on the island
are available there. Local farmers
also come around
to the houses with the produce they
are growing. A
variety of fruit trees are planted on
the property and
you can enjoy limes, papaya, guava,
grapefruit,
mangoes etc. according to the season.
We are lucky to be on one of the best
beaches in the
northeast for swimming and snorkeling.
The beach
that you see from the balcony is
accessible by a
pathway close to the property.
Generally very quiet,
except for some fishermen and maybe a
family doing
their washing in the river flowing
into the sea, you can
snorkel on the reef, swim or explore
the small island
just off shore. The river is a
favourite spot for children
to play and is convenient for washing
the salt water
off after a swim in the ocean.
Point Baptiste, (the next beach down),
can be
reached by foot or car. It is about
1/2 mile away and
another area of spectacular beauty. A
third sandy
beach, Woodford Hill Beach, is about a
half hour
walk or a 5 minute drive.
Come and enjoy Dominica with us. For
those who
stay for a week you will get one
nights free lodging.
and bank.

Owner-Supplied Testimonial
This island, without any doubt is easily the most stunningly beautiful that we have visited.
There has never been a single day that i have not been uplifted and delighted.
The view from this house and the well kept gardens with very friendly and helpful staff makes this a very special place to stay
Mike Short, UK
Enjoyed the people , the island and the house very much. One week is not enough to take it all in.
Gweneth, Pascal and Augustus took very good care of us and made us feel very welcome.
We will be back,
Sheri and Richard
