Cabin Rentals Reviews for The Irish Rose--a Colorado Dream Vacation Spot--Secluded! in BreckenridgeMarch 21, 2012Reviewer: Peter Larson From: Dubuque IowaThe cabin is in an amazing location up in the mountains. It was nice not having to be near the major tourist attractions that are common in many mountain towns. If you want to truly experience Colorado, this cabin is the place to stay. Everything you need to spend a week up in the mountains is in the cabin. From cooking utensils to extra blankets, it was all there. March 14, 2012Reviewer: Ms Lupita From: Los Angeles, CABeautiful cabin up in the woods, secluded from the world, yet close to everything. It was perfectly romantic; it was heaven; we were in absolute happiness heaven. We disconnected from the world for the weekend; there was beautiful snow, freezing nights, a snowmobiling afternoon, a little shopping, and romantic dinners. And as we tried to think back to all our getaways, we concluded that this one was probably the best one ever. Thank you! January 02, 2012Reviewer: Cerney Family From: Antioch, IL
Driving home after a wonderful week long stay at November 27, 2011Reviewer: Sarah From: Louisville, Colorado
We had a lovely Thanksgiving at the Irish Rose. September 29, 2011Reviewer: P Harris From: Colorado Springs, CO
I stayed at the Irish Rose from 23-27 Sep 2011. I was looking for some peace, quiet and tranquility - and I definitely found it here. The cabin was well equipped (the best of any vaction rental I've ever stayed at), clean and comfortable. The setting was what could take your breath away - not to mention the autumn colors at their peak! I also was able to see one of the "local" black bears and the moose - which was truly a highlight. The property proved to be a great home base for exploring all through the area - Alma, Fairplay, Como and Breckenridge. I left a little detailed journal of my explorations and experiences in the cabin guestbook in case anyone needs any more ideas for what to do (although there are plenty of informational packets/books available in the cabin). I cannot express how much I enjoyed staying here and truly appreciate the assistance from Rich during the planning and reservation of the home. All in all, it was a great get-away weekend in the mountains! Thanks Rich and Angela! September 06, 2011Reviewer: Alex and RobertaWe had a great time this weekend! Thank you Rich for your hospitality and flexibility. You have a beautiful property and we can see why so many people enjoy their stay. The Irish Rose offers everything as advertised. The creek has good size brown trout for fly fishers. The property is spacious and in a remote location. The Irish Rose is close enough to Breck and Alma to make a quick trip if necessary. August 28, 2011Reviewer: Adrian From: Fargo, NDOur family spent three nights at the Irish Rose, and it was wonderful. The property is quiet and secluded, with plenty of places to explore. Fairplay is a quick drive away, and had everything we needed. It was great falling asleep to the sound of the creek behind the house and looking at the stars through the skylight. This really is a great place to get away and enjoy God’s creation! August 23, 2011Reviewer: Tom and Lucy and Don and Pat Kuku From: Merriam, KsThe house was perfect. Everything and more was provided. Very secluded. Caught fish in the stream behind the house. Made several trips which included Alma, Fairplay, Cosmo, and Leadville. We are bringing our family up next year. August 11, 2011Reviewer: The Hall and Del Carmen Families From: St. Louis, MOOur two families just returned from five fabulous nights at the Irish Rose. The setting is gorgeous and the owners couldn't be more helpful. Everything we could have possibly needed was provided in the cabin and the great outdoors provided endless hours of entertainment for the kids. We highly recommend the Irish Rose! August 04, 2011Reviewer: Andy and Marty From: St Joseph MO
Staying at the Irish Rose was a fantastic experience! I August 04, 2011Reviewer: Anonymous From: NewfoundlandPerfect location for our small family summer reunion. Lots of great hiking and wildlife (we even saw a family of moose). Loved the goat farm down the road. Quiet and roomy. Lots of perks (great BBQ). Best rental we ever had. We shall return. July 15, 2011Reviewer: Anonymous From: Lufkin, TexasThis was our second July stay and we enjoyed it just as much the second time around. We mainly stayed in the immediate area visiting historic sites this time. We did go to Breckenridge for a day to do some shopping. There was more snow this time which kept the pass closed. Also tried to get to Kite Lake but the road was closed due to snow. Hard to believe you can leave Texas at 100+F and have snow on the ground here. We saw the moose for the first time right outside the house. Thanks for opening up your house for our Colorado getaway. Hope to be back soon. July 08, 2011Reviewer: Anonymous
The Irish Rose was just what our family needed to escape the Texas drought! Being able to sleep with the windows open and no AC was a change for us! (I loved seeing the stars thru the skylight above the bed in the loft) July 05, 2011Reviewer: Ted & Jayne From: San Antonio, TXWe stayed in the cabin in the middle of June. The summer is a great time to be in the mountains in Colorado. We loved the cabin and all the great stuff you can do outdoors. We just walked out the door in the morning to all kinds of fun. Easy drive to lots of neat towns. The owners were great. You can't expect more. I would love to stay here again. June 09, 2011Reviewer: The Burns Family From: HOTlanta, GAWe stayed the first week of June 2011. It was a phenomenal visit and the cabin was a perfect home base for hiking, camping, and sightseeing. We were SO pleased with this wonderful cabin and the kindness of the owners! The stay, the cabin, the property, and the weather exceeded our expectations exponentially and we are already planning to return to the Irish Rose! March 28, 2011Reviewer: Kristi Benson From: Des Moines, IAWe stayed during spring break in March for 4 nights & loved your cabin with great views & lots of privacy. Everything we needed was provided & we loved this location. Our 3 grandchildren, ages 5, 8 & 9, had their first skiing experience & are begging to go back for more. Thanks for helping to make wonderful memories. February 28, 2011Reviewer: Chuck From: Omaha, NEOur family stayed at the Irish Rose over Presidents day weekend. WE all loved our stay. The boys loved the mountains, we loved playing games around the fire in the evening, cooking big meals at night, sleeping in when it was completely quiet, having a big mountain breakfast, and skiing and shopping all day. What a wonderful time for our family to spend together, one with many pictures that we will remember forever. Thanks again February 09, 2011Reviewer: Sam Strong From: Denver, COWe just came back from a lovely weekend at the cabin. A Stunning view greeted us each morning. The beautiful surroundings made for a perfect afternoon of snowshoeing. My 10 year old was fascinated by the old mine we found. We could tell the back yard is a perfect place to spend a summer evening as well. Close to Breckenridge for the snow sculpture contest. We had everything we needed for terrific dinners and game night by the fire. Thanks for sharing your home! We would love to do it again. January 25, 2011Reviewer: Tina Kinsey From: Richmond Tx
Rich and Angela thank you so much for the use of your home for our family vacation. The cabin has everything you could possibly want, along with beautiful scenery. The boys loved the sleds and you even supplied our own sledding hill. We went snowmobiling one day and that was great fun until we took a turn a little to fast and the snowmobile went one way, and my husband and I went the other. We will definitly be back! January 05, 2011Reviewer: Stephanie From: Conroe, TX
We had a fabulous time at the Irish Rose last week. It was not far from civilization yet while there you felt secluded from all the craziness. We skied one day in Breckenridge (30 minute drive in the winter) and one day in Keystone (1 hour drive in the winter). The house had everything we needed including games for the night we were snowed in. If I had one negative to the location it was that we were worried about the roads being safe to drive on a couple of days. But we are from Texas and don't know how to drive in the snow and ice. It didn't hinder the trip at all...we still did everything planned but just drove very carefully. January 05, 2011Reviewer: Mary From: Houston, TXYour place is great! We were very pleased and very comfortable. When we arrived; the Breckenridge area had just received an unusually large snow fall we were told. The kids played in the snow at the house the first day. The snow was about 1-2 ft. deep. The view just from the balcony is like a living post card. Just breath-taking. So glad you told us to get a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Driving in the snow was a little unsettling for us. And the ice and snow on the winding road up the mountain from and to Breckenridge was as amazing to see as well as to drive. We did have a good time in Breckenridge. We took ski lessons and enjoyed the pretty town. Had just a little altitude adjustment. At night, we stopped in the local store and then went to the house and had cozy dinners a few times. One day we drove to Royal Gourge about 2 hrs. away and took the train ride. GPS's are great!! Found some good places to go sledding for free thanks to the locals. September 07, 2010Reviewer: Anonymous From: Colorado SpringsThis place is amazing! It is quiet and feels secluded without being too far from basic services and a wealth of outdoor activities. We loved the outdoor fire pit next to the mountain stream. Inside the cabin, every detail is taken care of, right down to CDs with music mixes labeled by genre. We fully intend on returning soon! July 31, 2010Reviewer: Vehslage Family From: Dallas, TexasWe really enjoyed our stay. Awesome views of mountain from house. Beautiful creek running close to house. We definately hope to stay here again. July 22, 2010Reviewer: The Hurd Family From: Jupiter, FL
Dear Rich, Angela, Kay & family, July 22, 2010Reviewer: Gary and Keri Moser From: Columbus, OH
Rich and Angela, We had an incredible time at the cabin this summer! The view looking out the great room at the mountains was absolutely magnificent to wake up to each morning. Hiking on the property was exhilarating. The kids really enjoyed looking for gold at the abandoned mines. We couldn't have asked for a better location, private and secluded yet only a short drive from Breckenridge. We were impressed with the cabin features and amenities, wanting for nothing, we felt immediately at home, thank you for keeping it very well maintained. We typically rent a cabin on vacation each year, and this has been by far our favorite! Really sad to leave, all of us look forward to visiting again. July 20, 2010Reviewer: Park & Donna Allwine From: Tulsa OKThank you Rich, Angela and Kay for a special week of hospitality in Colorado. My family feels refreshed and blessed to have experienced the high country, from the exceptional base of operations known as the Irish Rose. After solid days of chasing adventure, the cabin you provided us was a welcome sanctuary. Our hats off to you and to your vision in establishing the home in a picturesque setting, beautifully finished, appointed beyond expectation and warmly decorated. It simply was a delight to make it home for a week. Thanks again - Park, Donna, Melody and Rob Allwine, Tulsa, OK. July 15, 2010Reviewer: James From: Denver, COWe had a great weekend at the Irish Rose. Our guests from Texas enjoyed experiencing snow in the second week of June! July 14, 2010Reviewer: DianeWe thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Irish Rose! What a wonderful place to escape to! The view was incredible! The cabin had everything we needed and was so comfortable and warm. It was great having lots of movies to choose from, walking sticks and whistles! We did some hiking and the scenery was beautiful! Close enough to Breckenridge to go for dinners, yet far enough away to really get away from it all! Would love to experience the Irish Rose in every season of the year! Gorgeous!!! June 05, 2010Reviewer: Michael & Lisa Hirt From: Chandler, TX
Had a wonderful time at the Irish Rose. When they say "you don't need to bring anything - they have everything", this is not an understatement - just bring your food & clothes. Had a problem with the oven/stove not working the first morning: had the bacon in the pan, turned the burner on, and no heat!! But the owners were quick to provide special accommodations that worked out great! We saw lots of birds and squirrels on the property, caught a fox getting into the secured trash can, and saw moose, elk, & deer in the nearby area. Sluiced & panned for gold in the creek (will have to let you know if we found any). Overall had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home - look forward to coming back soon!!! Thanks so much Rich, Angela & Kay!!! February 22, 2010Reviewer: Wesley From: Fairhope, ALMy wife and three children really enjoyed our stay at the Irish Rose. Everything we needed was there from cooking in the kitchen, grilling out, board games, sleds and plenty of snow. We enjoyed the the setting and the incredible views. Spent our time going back and forth to the "sledding hill" and even looking for "gold" in the rocks at the top of the hill. We plan on trying to come back to see how the summers are! February 21, 2010Reviewer: Crystal & Tom O. From: Chicago, IL
My husband and I had a fantastic stay at the Irish January 30, 2010Reviewer: Linda Musselman From: Woodland Park, COWe so enjoyed our stay at your beautiful mountain home. We brought our neice and her husband for a special getaway and it totally exceeded our expectations. Thank for openting your spectacular mountain home to us and we definitely will return!! January 05, 2010Reviewer: David Tobin From: Rowlett, TexasOur family had a wonderful time! We ski'd in Breckenridge and Keystone. We sledded in the "backyard", we hiked up the river, grilled, played games, watched movies, and watched the birds and squirells. We searched for the mines but could not find them or any large game. The house has everything, movies, sleds, games, music, cooking utensils, and walking sticks. It also has info on all the local to do's. We had a wonderful, memorable stay and highly recommend the Irish Rose to anyone looking for an incredible place to stay. December 28, 2009Reviewer: Andrea From: Alexandria, Louisiana
We had a great time! Thanks for sharing your cabin. October 02, 2009Reviewer: AnonymousThe Montano Family stayed at the Irish Rose for a weekend in mid-September and had a wonderful time. The trip was a gift to the older Montanos for their 50th wedding anniversary. We all love the mountains and couldn't have been more pleased with the cabin and surroundings. We hiked, bicycled, fished (Dad caught fish in the nearby stream) and the girls even claimed to have seen a bear from afar! We also attended Mass in Fairplay and enjoyed going through the frontier town of South Park. Any pot or dish we needed was available in the cabin, as well as reading materials and games! It snowed the morning we left - what a treat! Thanks for the use of your beautiful home. Mary & Alex Montano & Family October 01, 2009Reviewer: Daniel Montano From: Denver Colorado
The Montano family rented the Irish Rose for our August 20, 2009Reviewer: Tiemann Family From: Lufkin, TexasHow GREAT it was to stay at the Irish Rose!! We were escaping from the Texas heat and were very succesful!! Temperatures were awesome for fishing, hiking, and also drinking coffee in the early morning watching the sun hit the mountains. Great fishing just a few minutes away in Fairplay and also on the property! Last day we took a quick trip into Breckenridge which is only a few minutes away. Great Location and we had a very very restful stay. Our only regret was not meeting Mr. Bear!! August 12, 2009Reviewer: Walt Grady From: Fort Collins, COThe Irish Rose makes a great first impression; it’s clean, well maintained, comfortable and has fantastic views. Access to five “14ers” in the Mosquito Range made the Irish Rose a wonderful base camp for hiking. An unexpected surprise was seeing moose and visiting the extensive beaver ponds up the valley. Very memorable! July 28, 2009Reviewer: Clare Stein From: Dallas, TXThe house and property are beautiful, remote and pristine-- the perfect home away from home. We spent several days without leaving the Irish Rose property- there is plenty to do. And when we wanted a change, we didn't have to go far. We hiked in Buena Vista and Breckenridge, fished in Fairplay and Lake Dillon, and enjoyed a music festival in nearby Alma. I highly recommend the Irish Rose!! July 22, 2009Reviewer: The Dannas From: Lufkin, TexasWe had a great time while at the Irish Rose. Explored alot in the area. The bear on the porch the first morning was really interesting. Great scenery and accomadations. There was 4 adults and my two girls. We were never bored for things to do and see. Hope to be able to make it back. Thanks for the opportunity to use your place. July 14, 2009Reviewer: Randy Toth From: buffalo, NYJune 30th-July 7th Outstanding! Fishing was great on little Mosquito Creek, Caught and released several little Brook and Brown Trout. The house could not have been set up better for us either. Everything was as advertised. We also ziplined in Wolcott, horseback riding near Fairplay and whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River, it doesn't get any better than that!Great vacation, thank you so much. July 13, 2009Reviewer: Dana Knight From: Boulder, COThe Irish Rose is a very nice property in an great setting; beautiful views, fishing, hiking, exploring, lots of nature and Breckenridge only 30 mins away. We just finished our family vacation there with 4 adults and 4 kids and all had a great time! June 14, 2009Reviewer: Betty Miller From: Stillwater OkI am so glad that our daughter found the Irish Rose. It was a wonderful place to have a family vacation. My husband, daughter, son-in-law, children 8,6,3 and our son all had a great time in your lovely cabin. It had everything you could want and then some. Thank you for thinking of all those little extras that made it the perfect place to stay. (the maps, brochures, books, toys, all the kitchen supplies and lovely comfortable furnishings) We hiked up Mosquito Pass, collected rocks at the old mine, fished (Lee caught a brook trout near the cabin). We enjoyed Alma and the Al-Mart. I even saw a man that I knew from Stillwater in the Al-Mart. We ate at the South Park Saloon in Alma and it was excellent. We had a short trip to Fairplay and toured the old mining town. The kids loved it! We also went to Breckenridge and there are no crowds there in June! If we come back to Colorado, we will stay at the Irish Rose again. Thank you for having such a lovely place. March 16, 2009Reviewer: Shawn From: Green Bay/WIYour cabin offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a true colorado experience. We were able able to go skiing at several different resorts, hiked up mt. bross, snowshoed out the back door; and came home to beautiful views. Would love to come back in the summer and check out the trout streams! February 23, 2009Reviewer: Jamie From: London, EnglandThe Irish rose is a wonderful Colaroado getaway. It's very comfortable and homely and a real bargain compared to other properties. You won't regret staying here. February 14, 2009Reviewer: AndrewWow! What a set up! Ten acres of Rocky Mountain seclusion with unbelievablel views and your own river! Tons of trails to explore. It was the best mountain house we have stayed in. No fighting the crowds like Breckenridge, but it was an easy drive to town. We looked at other houses for the same price, but nothing had the unique surroundings of the Irish Rose! This is the place to stay. Thanks! January 07, 2009Reviewer: Hal Wallace From: Oklahoma City, OKWe enjoyed the separate isolation from Breckenridge's bumper-to-bumper traffic while staying at the Irish Rose home. This was our first stay away from the action of a ski resort and we happily liked it. If you fly into Denver, most families rent a car. Or, they drive, as we did, from OKC. The distance is real but if you enjoy peace and quiet, the Irish Rose is an excellent find! You'll find the Irish Rose a true home. We ate in breakfasts and most evenings--3 high schoolers, 2 college, 3 parents. Snow was no problem for my 2 wheel drive Yukon as it was plowed to the home twice while we were there. December 05, 2008Reviewer: AnonymousWe had a really nice time at the Irish Rose. It snowed the whole weekend. We snow shoed and enjoyed the beautiful views. The house is very nice and clean with many amenities. We had a great time! October 08, 2008Reviewer: Mark Morris From: Russell, KSWe definitely enjoyed our time at the Irish Rose. The cabin was clean, comfortable and everything required was provided. The location was perfect. With easy access to 4x4 trails, a running stream and old mines to explore we had plenty of activities to keep us busy. Overall a great experience at a great place. August 31, 2008Reviewer: Jane Boisvert From: Horseshoe Bay, TXOur four weeks at the Irish Rose was a little taste of heaven. We loved the cabin as well as the surrounding acreage. Our children and grandchildren loved exploring the area and fishing in the creek. We found it to be a wonderful, relaxing place with every amenity that we needed to feel at home. The wildlife was an added bonus!!! July 24, 2008Reviewer: Anonymous
The Irish Rose was a terrific cabin with practically all of the amenities that you could wish for in the mountains. It was comfortable and completely private. The down side was that it was far from Breckenridge, a half hour away. We also would have liked to see more wild life. July 14, 2008Reviewer: Bob WallaceWhat a great place to spend one week in the mountains. The kids had their bunk-bed room and I had peace and quiet in the master bedroom upstairs. Talk about a home away from home. After hiking from Leadville to your cabin over Mosquito Pass, with snow and hail, it was a welcome sight. Thanks again July 08, 2008Reviewer: shawn and kelly
We truly enjoyed our stay! June 28, 2008Reviewer: Patrick Kneese From: Denver, COThe Irish Rose is the pefect getaway. As someone who lives in Colorado, I can tell you that the true privacy and tranquility that surrounds you is almost impossible to come by anywhere else in the immediate Denver area...I think I saw two cars go by in three days yet you are still close to "civilization" if you need anything. Great hiking, driving trails, and much more is at your doorstep but just sitting on the grand deck and taking it all in is even better. I will return. Thank you Rich and Angela! June 09, 2008Reviewer: Jim KovachThe Irish Rose exceeded our expectations. The view off the back porch is tremendous. The remote location of the Irish Rose is ideal for a retreat from the everyday world. March 31, 2008Reviewer: Carlton and Judy Stringer From: Oklahoma City OKWe enjoyed our stay! The cabin was clean and comfortable and has a lovely view! February 02, 2008Reviewer: Chuck Schaber From: Atlanta, GA
We had a wonderful time at the Irish Rose... We went sking at Breckinridge for four days, the house was great and so were the slopes. It beat staying at a ski in ski out place by slopes we normally stay in. The family and I really enjoyed the place. January 28, 2008Reviewer: Gary WagnerWe had an excellent time at the Irish Rose! The weather was awesome and we enjoyed hiking to the old mines and driving up the road to the Mosquito Pass. The facilities are truly top-notch and the cabin itself was in prime condition. The scenery was spectacular, particularly seeing the stars at night. We highly recommend a stay and we will be sure to go back again! January 18, 2008Reviewer: Jerry and Renell ForresterWhat a wonderful place to spend Christmas in 2007. We woke up to a white Christmas after 4 days of skiing. It was beautiful. Thank you so much for letting us spend our holiday in such a peaceful, ideal place. The cabin was perfect for our family. January 18, 2008Reviewer: Michael Watts From: Odessa, TxWe had one of the best times at Irish Rose. We stayed over the New Year and went skiing. We had plenty of snow and the cabin was great!!! Beautiful to wake up each morning and see the snow covered mountains right out the front window and watch the shooting stars at night through the beautiful front window!!! Everything at the cabin was easy to work with, ie.. the fireplace, furnace, water, appliances. The drive into Breckenridge was beautiful with all the new snow. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again!!! July 22, 2007Reviewer: Scott and Sandy From: Blue Springs, MOWe had a wonderful time at your cabin. It has everything, and more, that you could want. We enjoyed star-gazing on the spacious deck, had a hotdog/marshmallow roast, and panned for gold -all on site. We even had several interactions with the wildlife. We had a friendly fox that came up to the yard several evenings and one night we were surprised by a small black bear, but he promptly high-tailed it when we opened the door. We saw deer grazing and several marmots. If this place was for sale we would love to buy it. Great location. Great amenities. AND Great fun!! July 19, 2007Reviewer: Rick & Connie Ball From: Russia, OHWe enjoyed our stay at the Irish Rose. We had everything we needed and the view was spectacular. It was a great family vacation which included hiking, whitewater rafting, visiting a gold mine and attempting to make it thru Mosquito Pass - only the snow stopped us. The kids were disappointed that they didn't see a bear - ok by me though! We did see deer, a fox and a wolf. We would recommend this cabin to anyone, very clean and family oriented. July 17, 2007Reviewer: Dan Burley From: Tucson, AZ
One of our best vacations. We drove from Tucson to bring our ATV’s and explore the Rockies. Rode almost to the top of Mosquito Pass, still closed by snow in the first week of July. From the cabin we rode to the top of Mt. Bross, 14172 ft. The Highest in the Continental US is 14450. People were still skiing and snowboarding. I wish I could have tried. The wives loved shopping in Breckinridge, about a 45 minute drive. An hour and half south east is the Royal Gorge, this was one of our day trips. They had a nice Winery there also. There was so many white water rafting outfits you will always be able to find an opening. The historic mines all over the place were great to see and explore the ruins. You can’t actually go in any but that’s probably a good thing. June 26, 2007Reviewer: Patricia From: Minnesota
We stayed at Irish Rose for three days and wish it could have been longer. We had ages 15, 27, 40/50 somethings and we all found it wonderful. The cabin is remote and relaxing and had so many thoughtful amenities, such as sun screen, walking sticks, bug spray, condiments, games, puzzles, etc. The cabin was extremely clean! We especially appreciated the "How to" information book provided by the owners. We all had fun panning for gold and just basking in the beautiful surroundings. One exciting bonus we experienced was seeing four moose grazing by the cabin one evening. I would recommend this cabin and hope to visit again. June 07, 2007Reviewer: Keith & Shanan Mahoney From: Firestone, CO 80520
We had a wonderful time staying at the Irish Rose. We have stayed as several places in the Colorado mountains, and this was by far our favorite. The cabin is beautiful and in an incredible setting! They have thought of everything for their guests. With two small children it was great to be at a place that is truly family-friendly. Jacob (our 3 year old) was so excited to see Elmo, mega blocks and lots of books to look at in "his" room, and it was so nice to be somewhere that had outlet safety plugs and a stair gate to keep Megan (1 year old) out of trouble! We hiked, mountain biked, and did some of the "tourist" stuff in town. We also enjoyed roasting marshmallows by the campfire and watching the sunset over the mountains. I highly recommend the Irish Rose to anyone looking for a wonderful mountain get-away! May 09, 2007Reviewer: Jon and Tonya From: Faribault MNWe stayed at the Irish Rose April 28th to May 2nd. The house had all the comforts of home. The property was great to explore. There was still some snow, so we were somewhat limited. The Irish rose is located in a place that you have easy access to a lot of different things to do. We will definitely be back. April 08, 2007Reviewer: Kathy MooreMy husband and I, and another couple, took our daughters and two of their friendsto Breckenridge skiing over spring break. We spent four days at the Irish Rose. It was REALLY nice to get away from the crowds of Breckenridge each evening. Not only did we enjoy the cabin with all of its amenities (it was lovely!) but we also enjoyed the surrounding countryside - short hikes, the scenery, wildlife. We hope to go back in the summertime. March 26, 2007Reviewer: Valory Kizer From: Willow Park, TX
My family and I recently stayed a week at the Irish Rose. It was as beautiful as the picture on the web suggests. The cabin was well appointed and equiped with items that I would have never thought about. We would have gladly used the sleds provided, however, we ran out of snow. And my children enjoyed playing with the snowman kit. Unfortunatly I became ill during our stay, but the view from our bedroom window was enough to keep me going. I look forward to being able to stay at the Irish Rose again! I would recommend it to anyone. It was a quiet and beautiful retreat from our normal daily grind. Thanks again for the hospitality! March 04, 2007Reviewer: Glenn Nguyen From: Parker, COWe stayed at the Irish Rose a couple of days in mid February. We have been to many rental cabins and Irish Rose is by far the best. The cabin is fully equipped inside out. We love the secluded nature of the cabin. Although we stay during Winter, we would also recommend this place during the Fall. The scenery in the back of the cabin is awesome with many aspen trees. Irish Rose certainly exceeds our expectation. Would definitely stay again. January 25, 2007Reviewer: AnonymousWe just completed our sixth stay at the Irish Rose and as usual enjoyed our time greatly. We experienced three beautiful snows of about three inches each but had no problems since the road in front of the Irish Rose is cleared as soon as the snow stops. We are currently planning our summer trip to this well-maintained, clean, delightful cabin in the valley that we call our home-away-from-home. Rich and Angela, October 18, 2006Reviewer: John Kelley From: Lancaster, OhioRich and Angela, What a great place! My brother's and I committed last year to get together once a year w/o kids etc. and have a few days of R&R. One lives in Denver, one in Oregon and I live in Ohio. Our four days at your place were spent hiking, relaxing and we went fly fishing for the first time! The bedrooms were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed watching the NHL on the tube. A great weekend with memories for a lifetime! Irish Rose has my vote for the next Boy's Weekend! September 28, 2006Reviewer: John Schulz From: Honeoye N.Y.
Add my positive to all the other replies. I can not think of one negative comment. Thank you very much. John. September 28, 2006Reviewer: Anonymous From: Cumming, GA
Dear Rich and Angela, August 13, 2006Reviewer: John and Anne From: Houston, Texas
We had a great time at the Irish Rose this summer. We saw lots of wildlife: deer(including a deer with twins), golden eagles, hummingbirds, warblers. We also drove up to Mosquito Pass, caught some trout, and panned for gold in the Gulch. The house is clean and is stocked with plenty of things to keep everyone busy. We especially appreciated all the information about the history of the area and we got a lot of use out of the maps with jeep and hiking trails. THE IRISH ROSE IS AN AWESOME AND BEAUTIFUL PLACE FOR A HIGH COUNTRY ROCKIES VACATION. WE LOVED IT! EVERYTHING WE LOVE TO DO WAS LITERALLY AT OUR DOORSTEP; ATV RIDING, HIKING, FISHING IN THE CREEK AND JUST RELAXING ON THE DECK IN THE COOL, CRISP AIR. WE HAVE BEEN TO MOST EVERY AREA IN COLORADO, BUT THE IRISH ROSE IS THE PLACE WE WANT TO RETURN TO. THANKS SO MUCH. July 29, 2006Reviewer: Jeff Pero From: Warrensburg, Missouri
What can I say...Colorado is Colorado! This wasn't our first time enjoying what this state has to offer but it was a first staying at 10,600. Your cabin fit well with all we had planned to do in the time we were there. It provided us with a place to "come home to" following our wide range of activities (hiking, fly-fishing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting and a climb up Mt. Sherman). It was very comfortable, peaceful, isolated and need I say with beautiful surroundings. The quick flowing creek added just the right touch. This was what a high-country vacation should be like! Thanks for sharing your place with us and for the great memories. July 11, 2006Reviewer: L. Kliewer From: Newton, KSLovely cabin. All the amenities of home. We even got to watch the Tour de France via the satellite TV. Enjoyed hiking around the cabin exploring old mine sites. Lovely scenery up the road to Mosquito Pass and the London Mine. Saw several deer and even a young elk buck. Close to shopping (Fairplay and Breck) but remote enough to provide lots of privacy. We look forward to a future stay. June 27, 2006Reviewer: AnonymousMom and I had a "girls week" at the Irish Rose and it was the first time we rented a vacation home. We were extremely pleased with our choice. The house is spacious and well equiped with videos/dvds, kitchen supplies (including condiments, spices, utensils), and the surrounding views are wonderful! The location is remote enough so we felt peacfully alone yet close enough to Fairplay and even Breck that we could eat out when we wanted and do the tourist-thing. We would definitely stay here again. June 08, 2006Reviewer: The Havely's From: Denver, CO
What a wonderful cabin! The weather was perfect, except for a few clouds that obscurred the brilliant stars one night. Not many birds, surprisingly, but we were provided a rare treat by getting to see a baby moose! June 02, 2006Reviewer: AnonymousVery nice place! They even had champagne glasses (we were celebrating an anniversary)! Very remote, the only bummer was we couldn't take advantage of the awesome firepit due to the fire ban. Dear Rich & Angela, We greatly enjoyed our stay in March 23, 2006Reviewer: Dan Kinsella From: Arvada, ColoradoFirst class accomidations. Felt like home away from home. Great Mountain setting and views. We will be back. March 13, 2006Reviewer: Steve & Sharon From: KansasGreat cabin with plenty of privacy. The road from the hiway to the cabin could use some maintenance. we didn't mind the drive back and forth to the ski sloops at all. this is the kind of place I'd be looking for when I retire. March 10, 2006Reviewer: Bruce and Maria Mandt From: Denver, ColoradoWhat a wonderful setting for a family vacation! We rented the cabin with Maria's parents, brother, and sister-in-law for a three day skiing vacation and mini-reunion. The scenery is breathtaking, the cabin gorgeous (and just the right size for 6 adults), and the short drive to the ski hill is a snap. We will enthusiastically recommend the Irish Rose to our friends. . . as long as they promise not to make a reservation over a weekend when we want it! March 09, 2006Reviewer: Jody and Linda Williams From: Godley, TexasMy wife and I stayed at the Irish Rose the 2nd weekend in January 2006 for the third year in a row and loved every minute of it. The place was well-kept, well-stocked, and fresh and clean, just like during our first stay those few years ago. We're already planning our 2006 summer trip there with the grandkids. We had a great time at the Irish Rose with them last summer. March 08, 2006Reviewer: Justin Thole From: Windsor, CO

We had a wonderful family vacation in September at the Irish Rose. We flew in from Chicago and our daughter, son-in-law and four grandchildren from Colorado Springs met us at the cabin. The home is well-equipped to care for little ones. They loved going on hikes, playing in the stream on the property and having a campfire one night to roast marshmellows. August 15, 2005Reviewer: Anonymous From: Overland Park, KS
We recently returned from 4 nights at the Irish Rose in August '05. We had a great experience. The cabin is well equipped, comfortable and is located in a gorgeous remote location. August 01, 2005Reviewer: The Carey Family From: Maryville, IL
The Irish Rose was absolutely the nicest, cleanest, most beautiful vacation rental we've ever stayed at. July 29, 2005Reviewer: Texas TravelersThe cabin was great. It was comfortable and very well stocked. We really enjoyed our time at the Irish Rose. July 05, 2005Reviewer: Mandy and Mike Morin From: McKinney, TexasThe six of us had such a good time. Your place was wonderful, just as we had hoped! We have had some bad experiences from renting off the internet, but your cabin was just as it was represented. We explored the mines, hiked(and biked) up the road, played on the "beach", fished and even played some "horse" with your basketball net, made s'mores at night and really enjoyed the peace and beauty. Thanks so much! May 17, 2005Reviewer: laura &brenden mcnamara From: denver,coThis was our 2nd time at the irish rose. This time we had our son and our friends bought their daughter. We were very impressed with all of the equipment and toys for the kids. you really had everything there. It was terrific and relaxing. Next time we want spring weather so we can hike around. The snow was great too. We enjoyed a very cozy weekend with our friends. March 31, 2005Reviewer: Steve and Ramona Hamline From: Larkspur, Colorado
We loved our stay at the Irish Rose. The cabin was very comfortable and well appointed. My gourmet husband treated us all to wonderful meals in your well-equipped kitchen. We woke up Easter morning to 12 inches of snow and fashioned a beautiful Easter bunny snowman. Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us!! January 09, 2005Reviewer: The Cole Family From: Madisonville, LAOur family stayed in the Irish Rose for Christmas 2004. If you like an organized/everythign in its place kind of person...this is the place for you! This cozy cabin had all amemities needed. I cooked extensively and never wanted for a tool or gadget. The sleeping accomdations were comfy (I recommend the downstairs left bedroom for parents. (Turn on the humidifiers as soon as you get there, or your sinus' may get wacky!) The kids love the loft and the bright moon and sunlight does not bother them! The wildlife was wonderful, and the location quite remote. You are a easy 25-35 minutes from Breck, however Hoosier Pass is an easy 4 miles to the summit and actually nice to drive...unlike Monarch Pass, which is a mess in winter. My boys enjoyed the snow hill on the property and all of the provided snow toys! We saw so many tracks...it was fun figuring out what made them with a helpful "book" that is provided in the cabin. Everything was in working order and and was as represented by Rick, Angela and Kay. These kind folks were immensely helpful in executing our Christmas plans (Santa, etc.) The only drawback to us was that we were deep in a valley, and we missed looking out over the mountains and watching cars and lights in the night. EVERYTHING else was just splendid and Christmas 2004 and the special Irish Rose will stay with our family for many years to come! You will not be disappointed with this place unless you want to be "in town" and right where the action is. You choose the pace at the Irish Rose! January 06, 2005Reviewer: Jody and Linda Williams
It’s Snowing So It Must Be Tuesday December 01, 2004Reviewer: Matt Jackson From: London, UKA very nice cabin with all the amenities one should expect. It snowed a great deal while we were there and the solitude and remoteness where fabulous. Just remember the 4x4 during the winter! The snow on CR12 was up to our knees! November 07, 2004Reviewer: Todd Mueller From: Colorado Springs, COJust a wonderful clean two story cabin just outside Breckinridge. Offers everything. Very cosy, 10 acres to ride 4-wheelers on, Old mine shafts nearby where the kids can hunt for gold. The owner Rich is incredible and easy and friendly to work with. This was an awesome experience, one we plan on doing again and again. A great place to get away. I cannot say enough positive things about this experience. Well worth it and highly recommended. September 23, 2004Reviewer: Chris McAlear From: Enid, OKEverything you have read about the "Irish Rose" is true. Rick and Angela have a lovely place that they have kindly shared with the rest of us. I was fortunate enough to spend my honeymoon up in the beautiful mountain setting and it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy our time together. We took a few side trips including one up Mosquito Gulch. Although the weather was good and the pass was clear, it proved a bit too harrowing for us in an F-150. I wouldn't attempt it in any more than a jeep myself. Other than that, everything that happened was perfect. The home was fully equipped including spices so cooking was enjoyable, and the towns of Alma, Fairplay, and Brekenridge all provided diversions during the day. I highly recommend this to anyone, and look forward to staying again in the future. FAIP MAFIA! September 15, 2004Reviewer: Liz From: Lafayette, CO
The Irish Rose was great for our August 19, 2004Reviewer: The Cook Family From: Rowlett, TexasThis place is OUTSTANDING! You will not find a more beautiful, secluded and comfortable cabin than the Irish Rose. Thank you Rich and Angela for sharing your home with us. The Pictures on the Internet just dont capture the reality of how beautiful the Mountains are. The Home is equipped with every possible thing we needed. All you need to do is bring food. We enjoyed hiking up the 3 levels of the Mine located behind the Rose and the girls found tons of "Fools Gold". We traveled up Buckskin Gulch from Alma and relived the Days of the "Gold Rush". Breckenridge was just 17 miles down the road where we enjoyed Horseback Riding and Touring the "Good Ole Boy" Mine. Headed over to Copper Mountain Ski Resort and rode the Chairs up. Hiked the rest of the way to 12,000 feet. At the end of the day, it was great to come back to the Irish Rose, plug in a movie from your video library and just relax. We had a great time. We look forward to returning during the Winter Season to catch the Views with Snow. August 19, 2004Reviewer: Anonymous
The Irish Rose is in a neat location at 10,00 feet elevation. The cabin is comfy and well kept up. We enjoyed the wildflowers, hiking, and history of the area. Nice access to the Continental Divide, trails and restaurants in Fairplay, CO. They take good care of the house and only need to add a map or two of local trails to make it complete! August 10, 2004Reviewer: Ray Crosby From: Arlington, Tx.
The perfect Colorado getaway. House is well stocked with pamplets and brochures telling about the area. -There are two telephones, one upstairs and one down. One takes messages while you're away. My Verizon cell phone worked, but often went into "roaming". Would recommend having a calling card.- July 26, 2004Reviewer: Terry Corzine From: Bourbonnais, IL
As first time guests, my family thoroughly enjoyed the Irish Rose. The location is remote with a beautiful mountain stream and views of mountain peaks. The cottage was thoughtfully equipped. The space is well arranged to allow for adequate privacy, yet open space for spending time together as a family. July 20, 2004Reviewer: Bill Reno From: Santa Cruz, CA
What can I say about the Irish Rose other than it was fantastic. What a great basecamp for the Walker party. It is very quite and remote, but very easy to get coffee and eggs in Fairplay when you run out. After climbing 2 14 teeners in one day it was great to come back and watch a video and veg out. The kitchen was great, as Mr. Walker made his famous coconut shrimp and at times held all six of us grabing food and drink to replenish from our days adventures which included trout fishing in the creek, Downhill Mt Biking at Breckenridge, days hikes, early morning runs and backcountry fishing adventure at Hunkey Dory lake. June 24, 2004Reviewer: CHUCK From: STILLWATER, OKTHE IRISH ROSE WAS MORE THAN WHAT WE EXPECTED FOR THE PRICE. THE KITCHEN WAS STOCKED WITH MORE APPLIANCES AND KITCHEN WARE THAN WE HAVE IN OUR OWN HOME. THE KIDS LOVED TROUT FISHING AND LOOKING FOR GOLD. THE CABIN WAS BEAUTIFUL WITH THE PINE CEILING AND HUGE WINDOWS. IT WAS VERY PEACEFUL, YET GROCERIES AND FOOD WERE JUST MINUTES AWAY. THE MOUNTAIN HIKEING WAS EASY EVEN FOR THE KIDS. WE'LL BE BACK SOMETIME IN THE WINTER NEXT TIME. April 12, 2004Reviewer: Caleb David From: Tulsa, OK
Rich and Angela, March 24, 2004Reviewer: Brian and Kelly Herring From: Jackson,Ms.We stayed at The Irish Rose from March 13th thru the 20th. The Irish Rose is absolutely spectacular. The house had everything you could possibly think of. We did a lot of cooking while we were there and the kitchen had everything that we needed. They have an enormous amount of games for the children and also sleds for many of the hills around the house. I couldn't think of one thing that we needed that The Irish Rose did not have ready available. When we arrived at the house there was about a foot of snow on the ground. The second night we were there it snowed at least another 8 to 10 inches. Then it snowed another day, all day. When it finally stopped we had snow above our knees. It was truly breathtaking. The only wildlife we saw were birds, a fox, and a rather large rabbit. Overall, our stay at The Irish Rose was truly amazing. We will definely stay again and would highly recommend The Irish Rose. Thank you, Brian and Kelly Herring. January 27, 2004Reviewer: Jody and Linda Williams From: Godley, Texas

The Irish Rose was home to one of our best vacations ever! We stayed the first week of September 2003 to celebrate my husband's 40th B.day. We have 3 boys (ages 13,8,5) and we all love the great outdoors -- so this was our hub for a week full of biking, rock climbing, fishing, hiking, wildlife watching and relaxation. The cabin is everything you see in the pictures and then some -- sooooo comfortable, and the view was spectacular. We spent alot of time in Breckenridge - what a great town, although I have to admit, having to drive over Hoosier Pass each time was not so fun, but well worth it. What a wonderful vacation home. September 14, 2003Reviewer: Anonymous From: Polk City, IAOur stay at the Irish Rose was truly a relaxing and very enjoyable vacation. The views were beautiful, and the cabin itself was well equipped with all the conveniences of home. We had many activities planned before leaving on vacation to Colorado, but found ourselves just hanging out at the cabin quite a bit and enjoying some quality family time. It was great to not have the phone ring for a week solid! If we were to ever go back to Colorado on vacation, we would definitely check into booking the Irish Rose as the place to stay again. We highly recommend it to anyone staying in the Breckenridge area. August 29, 2003Reviewer: Rick From: Phoenix, Arizona
WOW! What a great 4 day weekend I had with my three poker playing Buddies! The house is great and the views teriffic. There is lot's of good fishing in the area and countless trails to hike. We can't wait to visit it during the summer. February 04, 2003Reviewer: Carlo Ibanez From: Frisco, TXOur family had a great time at the Irish Rose over the X'mas holiday. The cabin was certainly first-class - spacious, very comfortable and well-kept. Our family loved the secluded location but still close enough to the ski slopes at Breckenridge. The peaceful atmosphere and undisturbed natural beauty of the surrounding area was a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of the ski areas. We had a lot of fun just exploring around the cabin and playing with our kids in the snow. Now we know what the true Colorado experience is all about. Highly recommended. My wife & I spent the first week of September at the Irish Rose and had a fantastic time! The cabin was very comfortable and the location is quiet and secluded. The views are great around the cabin and the sky is amazing at night. We managed to hike 4 of Colorado’s fourteeners while we were there. The drive over Mosquito pass is fun if you have a four-wheel drive vehicle to navigate it. It was neat to see so many old abandoned mines in the area – even in the back yard! The aspen were starting to change while we were there which added a lot of color to the already spectacular views. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Irish Rose to anyone looking for a great getaway in Colorado. September 17, 2002Reviewer: Michelle & Rudy Kaluza From: Castle Rock CO
What a treat it was staying at the Irish Rose. My husband and I ofen camp through Colorado mountains over the summer season. We truly enjoyed the accomodations and the beauty of the mountain surroundings this summer at Irish Rose. September 01, 2002Reviewer: Sara and Len Sweeten From: Turlock, CaliforniaMy husband and I stayed a week in July at the Irish Rose. It was a true Colorado experience. The view from the vaulted windows is fantastic. Our walks around the property were very interesting because of all the mining history. That plus the home is quite comfortable. One is not roughing it in the least. The facilities are complete and beautifully decorated. The house is also very close to interesting places such as Breckenridge and Fairplay and Mosquito Pass which my husband and I crossed in our four-wheeled truck. Quite an adventure. We are looking forward to returning to the Irish Rose for a longer stays at different times of the year. August 25, 2002Reviewer: Debbie & Kayla From: Englewood, Colo.We were fortunate to have visited the Irish Rose earlier this summer when the mornings were still cool, but the days were warm and sunny. What a wonderful experience! We enjoyed a weekend getaway from the hustle of the city (less than 2 hrs. from Denver)and were amazed by the views and spacious areas. In the early morning quiet, I took in some solitude on the private balcony off of the master suite upstairs. The sun was shining just right in the perfect spot as it came up over the mountains and I could hear the birds chirping nearby. I even had a visitor: a hummingbird! What a respite from the citylife. My teenage daughter and I hiked and explored and couldn't get over the peacefulness of the area. From a trail above the Irish Rose, it looks like there's no civilization to be found! We took walkie-talkies to communicate with others back at the cabin and they worked great. The facilities are very comfortable, clean, and inviting. We can't wait to return in the fall when the aspen leaves are changing. It's absolutely breath-taking! August 22, 2002Reviewer: Sadie From: Madison, KaySorry to take so long to write this letter regarding our stay at the Irish Rose. It was so exciting to see so much wildlife. What more could a person ask for? Our hikes were treasure hunts, checking out mine and mill sites, and trails among the pines and aspen and leave the city life far behind us. The house was furnished with all the essentials we needed and was so comfortable and the loft skylight seemed to let the stars come right into the house. The historic auto tour information left for visitors proved to be very helpful and the 4 wheel drive over Mosquito Pass and up Buckskin into Kite Lake were unforgettable experiences. We came for the solitude and we would return for that reason and so much more. A true adventure...would love to come back for the skiing season and enjoy the warmth of the fireplace while taking in the spectacular winter view. August 22, 2002Reviewer: Erdy family
The Irish Rose was the best family vacation we have taken! Our sons caught trout in the beautiful stream behind the cabin. Megan gathered rocks for her collection everyday. We explored the rich history of the area on daily hikes. We were never bored! We did a cattle drive about an hour away, north on Rte.9. Definitly worth it. The panoramic views from the ranch were spectacular. August 22, 2002Reviewer: Joe Gleason From: St. Louis, MOMy wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Irish Rose. Peaceful, relaxing and What A View! We explored the old mine, panned for gold (no luck), visited the goat cheese place, hiked and just relaxed. Good eats at "Alma's Only Bar" and at the Swiss place in Breckenridge. Interesting little food store in Alma. The house is very comfortable, clean and there's that view--everywhere. Plenty of peace & quiet, too. We'd certainly come back. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
