On September 23, 2010 my mother, 2 y/o daughter and I rented the Schaller Cabin for 2 weeks ($1300). The cabin was not what we expected. There were no reviews on this property that we could find. The cabin seemed like it had not been cleaned. It was very dirty and dusty. The floors were extremely dirty. It was very crowded with far too much furniture for the size of the cabin. It appeared as if it had become the owners storage unit over the years. The cabin is multi-level with numerous step-downs throughout and two stairwells. Within 5 minutes of being inside the cabin, my toddler had fallen off a step into the dining room. I knew immediately that it would not work for the 2 weeks we had booked with Schaller Cabin. The cabin did not have safety gates available for a toddler. When Mr. Schaller returned my call the following day, he suggested we put chairs in front of every step down and stairwell. When I pointed out how this obviously would not work, he suggested I go to a store and purchase the necessary gates. I tried to obtain a partial refund of my $1300 and he refused. I simply lost all $1300 and had to move to a different single story cabin in Twin Peaks about 5 miles down the mountain...an additional $800 expense. The Schaller Cabin was a HUGE disappointment. I would not recommend anyone with small children or family members prone to falling, visit this cabin.
