Description

Conveniently located 800 feet above the village of Uvita, where the mountains go right down to the coast, this private villa is nestled in a secluded jungle setting. There are ocean views across the entire west side of the house: kitchen, dining area, living room and verandah. One of the two bedrooms is set behind the verandah and opens up on it, allowing for an ocean view from bed. There is a 40 foot chlorine-free pool surrounded by "cool to the foot" crushed coral decking.
Uvita is the main entrance to Ballena National Park. Many tour operators here will bring you snorkling right off the coast at Ballena Isla or to the famous Cano Island about 45 minutes off shore. They also offer tours to Corcovado National Park just across the bay for a day of hiking in one of the few primal forests left in the world. Or choose a day of deep sea fishing or kayaking in the mangrove rivers. We also have several wonderful waterfalls which you can walk to or rent a horse and ride there. Uvita Point looks like and is called the whale's tail and it divides the endless coastline of beaches into two distinct kinds. On one side, enjoy vigorous surf for both swimming and surfing. And on the other side, enjoy the quiet water ideal for snorkling.
With ocean breezes all day and cool mountain air at night, there is no need for air conditioning (although one bedroom has an in-wall unit). The large bedrooms have queen sized beds, de-humidified closets, private baths and are separated by a spacious living room. Modern kitchen and vaulted ceilings give this home both comfort and beauty. Incredible wildlife and spectacular sunsets make Casa Toucan unforgettable. Wake up to the calls of Howler monkeys and have sunset cocktails with our resident toucans. |
