Capital of the state of Yucatan, the historic city of Merida makes an excellent base for exploring the Yucatan's awesome Mayan treasures, eco-tourism sites, and is also a fascinating colonial city destination in its own right. Merida lies only 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the western Yucatan gulf coast and the beach resort of Progreso.
Numerous museums and markets bring alive the area's fascinating Mayan culture, while surrounding the city are some of the world's most important ancient archaeological sites. The cities of Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Sayil, Kabah, Labna, and Edzna are within a 160 kilometres (96 miles) radius of Merida. Because of its tranquility and cleanliness, Merida has become a popular place for families from other Mexican states. Many people have moved here from Mexico City, where crime, pollution, and overcrowding are ever growing problems. Crime is not tolerated in Merida, and it has the distinction of the city with the lowest crime rate per capita in Mexico.

He has furnished and accessorized LA CASA MERIDA with artwork that pays tribute to the culture of Mexico, furniture from the area, and other pieces that have been selected especially for the house. The interior of the house reflects an atmosphere of "old world charm" with a few modern touches and vibrant colors. The result is a soothing and comfortable place that you may find difficult to leave.
The beauty of LA CASA MERIDA extends beyond its walls to calming gardens and terraces. Guests have their choice of terraces: the morning person may choose to have their coffee on the Morning Terrace, the afternoon lounger can idle away hours on the Day Terrace, and the night person can spend their evenings on the Roof-top Terrace and behold the wonder of the city below.
LA CASA MERIDA is located in the heart of the city and is within walking distance to all types of activities. And because Merida is home to six universities, cultural activities are plentiful. Concerts, dance, and numerous galleries are close by and some are free or a minimal fee is required.
LA CASA MERIDA is two blocks from the opera house and three blocks from the main square. For shoppers the house is a few blocks from stores and fine dining is also within walking distance. There is easy access for tours to ruins and sightseeing. And because Merida is one of the safest cities in Mexico a late night stroll is not an uncommon sight.
A special amenity extended to all guests: A representatitve, of the owner, will meet with guests and assist them with household tips, questions and sight-seeing recommendations.
