PROPERTY: This vacation home just outside of Williamsburg, Virginia is set on the bank of a river. The house is partly secluded on a large property. It has a beautiful view of a wide expanse of the river on the north side. Across the small but deep river are uninhabited wetlands. A 75-foot pier threads through Cypress trees northwest of the house, and the dock at the pier’s end can be used for swimming and fishing in the tidal fresh-water river. The river can be explored with a canoe or Johnboat at the property. Fishing equipment is available in the house. Since it is on a fresh water river, there are no stinging jellyfish, and swimming is good all summer. The house is a short distance from a golf course.
HOUSE: The one-story 2-bedroom house has a wrap-around covered porch, which faces the river and has a gas grill. Double windows and double glass doors to the porch surround the combination living/dining room. This room has a TV with cable and VCR/DVD, stereo radio/tape player, and wood stove with glass door for cozy winter days. The kitchen area adjoins the living/dining area and has a refrigerator, gas stove/oven, microwave oven, drip coffee maker, toaster/broiler oven, and plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. The one bathroom has a tub/shower. The master bedroom has a private balcony facing the pier. It has a king bed and vanity with small sink. The second bedroom has two twin beds. The house sleeps four people.
There is no telephone or computer hook-up. A cell phone is recommended. No smoking or pets are allowed in the house.
AREA: The area is mostly wooded with residential and vacation homes on or near the river. Many good restaurants are in the Williamsburg area, which has big outlet malls and the famous Williamsburg Pottery. A large grocery store is about 10 minutes away.
