Surrounded by other villas with gardens, the house is located at the end of a short private street in a beautiful and quiet residential area close to the Nottolini aqueduct, an impressive 19th century monument built with 400 arches.

This area is the best place from which to enjoy a stay in Lucca because the centre and the train station are both easily accessible by foot or bicycle, and the exit from the A11 "Florence to the Sea" motorway is right there.

There are also numerous restaurants, banks, shops and supermarkets in the area. It is now almost impossible for anyone except residents to drive a car into the city centre, and this is one reason why the San Concordio area has lately become so sought after – because of the convenience.

It would be a good idea to start your visit, by walking, travelling in a horse drawn carriage or riding a bicycle around the romantic and massive walls surrounding Lucca enjoying the incredible views over the city. An urban area of very ancient origin, Lucca's recorded history dates back to its days as a Roman municipality. It is an important city for art and culture, including a vital historic centre of extraordinary beauty and interest, and conserving, almost intact, its compact urban network of houses, towers, medieval churches, Renaissance palaces and 19th-century piazzas.

Life in Lucca is marked by an annual series of important cultural and traditional events: from Santa Croce day festival in September to the Crossbow Palio, from the antiques market in June to gastronomic feast days ("Sagre") in the villages nearby , from the Carnival in Viareggio in February to the internationally renowned cartoon-strip fair "Lucca Comics" in October.

As Lucca is centrally located, this flat is also a wonderful base for a couple wanting to spend a holiday exploring Lucca and other cities in Tuscany such as Florence (44 Miles), Pisa (10 Miles), and Siena (50 Miles). Nearby is also the sea-side region of Versilia, with the famous resorts of Viareggio (12 Miles) Torre del Lago - the lake of Giacomo Puccini - (10 Miles) and Forte dei Marmi (14 Miles) with its spectacular marble quarries, the Apuan Alps (22 Miles) and the wonderful mountainous region of Garfagnana, that includes absolute jewels like the medieval village of Barga (21 Miles).
